Another beautiful project by HomeTech! **Q: Cobbled** *(in Photo Questions)* I am planning on ordering CleftsStone (the best) Brazilian slate in brushed as I heard that had least flaking and was gauged but I'm not sure if I should go with cobbled as that sounds like they sanded it or something to make it smoother??? A: Thanks for considering our beautiful stone tiles! A "cobbled" (aka chiseled or chipped) edge is hit with chains to provide a rustic edge the surface has not been brushed, sanded or smoothed, so it can be somewhat sharp. A "Brushed" (aka "leathered") surface is softened with abrasive brushes on the surface. This will provide a nice silky surface, and may soften the color. We also Antique (both cobbled+brushed")to provide a chipped yet silky finish, or Tumble (antique in a rotary tumbler) to achieve beautiful results for our design clients nationwide. There is no wrong answer! A basic cleft or honed surface, nicely installed. is perfectly lovely for some, while refined cleft+brushed, honed+brushed, antiqued or tumbled finishes are perfect for others!
