**Q: How do you attach the wood cladding and door to the shipping container** *(in Photo Questions)*

I've never seen it addressed anywhere and I'm curious how exactly you attach the wood to the shipping container?

A: You essentially have to build an add-on exterior framing to accept the cladding. We're currently working on a design we can ship to consumers to do just that. The alternative would be to attach it by penetrating the container shell which would work (they're only roughly 14 gauge thick) but adds complexity from a water proofing standpoint which dilutes the value of using a container and still would require a lot of redundancies in material.

**Q: Please help me save my kitchen!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My wife and I are updating our kitchen.  We started with an 80's oak kitchen with an ugly floor.  We went espresso with the cabinets, and put in an allure resilient floor that looks like wood.

We are leaning toward white Quartz countertops and a marble subway backsplash but we don't know if that will look right with the rest of the kitchen.  My wife likes a more classic but clean look.  We also don't know what to do with the lighting above the kitchen sink.  

Any advice from somebody with a more discerning eye (and imagination) than our own would be greatly appreciated!

A: I think stone home design has hit it best. In my experience your photos are probably showing up on screen darker then reality. The key would be to change the wall color above the cabinets to a white to match the light quartz/marble which has a pattern.  I don't think the white would be too harsh, I think it would come across bold but clean.  Don't be scared of subway tiles dating. They're popular because they look good and will always look good. A thin dark grout will help tie everything in.  Definately use a pro though for your tile, amateurs are obvious with tile and this is something not fun to replace if it's done poorly. 

The valence above as suggested should be removed or exchanged for a straight edge piece to be more contemporary. I would debate the idea of a pendant based on what's outside that window. We all love pendants but if you like the window view the obstruction will get old.  if you want a pendent I would go with a 3 piece pendant with a drop pattern that wraps the window as opposed to straight down the middle. And if it's appropriate based on your privacy remove the blinds. 

Lighting is crucial in here. White oriented counters will go along way but I believe you need a break line between your cabinets and the floor since they're so close in color so I would reiterate others on adding a LED strip under the toe boards (also under and over cabinets as well).  They're inexpensive and easy to install and come in a variety of hues.

If there's room add a contrasting island.  Even a long narrow one would do wonders for the space. 

At the end you're going to love what you did because you did it. Just be sure to add you're finished photos so we can see what you went with!

**Q: What color for walls? I'm kinda lost. Tried some grey but looks muddy?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have Dk. Charcoal Grey Sectional Sofa, Cream Ceiling, White molding along ceiling, Wood Trim around windows & doors and along floor...(can't change the wood trim or the ceiling color--it will stay: as is) Berber Nubby Textured Carpet: Light Brown/Tan & Grey with off white flecks.....now what color to paint walls that will compliment this??? Walls need painted and not sure on color.??

A: I think I would like to resign my last opinion. I looked more at your room.  Your real problem here is your trim which you said you couldn't do anything about (this a rental?)  I would go back to looking at a cream white of some sort to try and adjust for your outdated trim. It will help make the trim make sense and pop in a positive way which will help the rest of your colors and the room and I don't see how any scheme of gray will work for a natural wood trim.  this also would require you to go with a different color console, something very contrasting. you need color somewhere in this room beyond just pillows. I believe white looks cheap unless you've got great floors to make it work. Your carpet is too light for white cabinetry if you can help it.  or you'll need to add a lot more natural wood elements to work with it.  the art will be underwhelming unless you've got more art/pictures to color your walls.

if you can hang things on your wall definately hang your tv and try to get some floating shelves to add dimension.

A: You can also do Black Locust, which has similar properties but is the sustainable alternative to ioe/teak that are being milled to extinction
