**Q: Free standing tub filler - new construction on concrete slab** *(in Building a Home)*

I am building a home in Florida on a slab and looking for a tub filler that will work with that. Most of the fillers in my price range say they are not compatible with a slab installation. The plumbing lines are in the cement where the faucet will have to go. Anyone have experience with this? The faucet is a Jacuzzi NW55827 model. Thanks

A: I'm currently working on a new build with a concrete floor on the 1st level of the house, which is the level that 2 of the bedrooms are on. The master bath is going to have a free standing tub, but I've decided on a Roman style tub filler that will be mounted to the deck of the tub. You might try this style mount if you can't find a free-standing tub filler that can accommodate a concrete floor. 

On a related note: how did you finish your concrete floors?

**Q: Help!  Backsplash Snafu.** *(in Building a Home)*

I'm building a new house.  Last week I visited the job site and the tile contractor had installed the backsplash in a brick running pattern.  My contract clearly states 'stacked'.  I called and he confirmed they did it incorrectly, pulled it down, purchased new product and re-installed.  Yesterday I visisted the job site and this is what they did.  I'd expected that they would be laid with the long side horizontal.  I'm still not sure how I feel about this vertical orientation and whether I should say something.  The grout also appears lighter than I expected.  We specified Prism Pewter which is pictured below.  I'm not sure if they used the correct color grout.  The tile is Best Tile Shimmer Tile (glass) and the granite is Thunder White.  

What do you think?

A: I personally like the "vertical" orientation of this stacked tile pattern. I always give my tile guy a drawing of how I want the tile placed. And then I'll text or email them too!
