Also, what are the compartments on the right hand side for? A: Hi hopkins10, thanks for your question! The countertop is a honed granite. Using a honed finish helps the stone look "newer" for "longer". New England winters can dull a polished finish quickly. On the right of the built-in is 1) two drawers for cooking utensils and 2) a trashcan.
