In our framing process, we use .40 pressure treated ground contact lumber which is pervious to insects and rot. We also use western red cedar on the above grade structures and never nails only screws on our decking surfaces. All support footings are hand dug and poured with concrete. He now wants to charge me $1000 more for his mistake. I told him that is unprofessional and I would be willing to split it. He quit and has my money.
