The owner Steve Fradkin and his crew did a fabulous job on a major remodel of our 1917 Craftsman, adding dormers for a bathroom, upstairs laundry, walk-in closet and a new bedroom. Steve met with us each week at the start of the project to go over details, providing a range of options and solid advice on where and where not to save money. We never felt pushed to make costly choices and he was honest about which options really had ROI. Steve was easy to work with, professional, and - most importantly - reliable and on-time! The crew was great, courteous and professional and foreman, Lionel, was exacting and detail-oriented in all the right places. They did some really impressive work creating an almost completely soundproof laundry room adjoining the master bedroom, and a somewhat complicated custom edge-to-edge skylight over the shower. As most all projects do, the cost did increase somewhat as various problems and options appeared, but throughout, Steve maintained a "guaranteed maximum" cost on the overall project. As the scope changed, the guarantee was adjusted, but if the cost exceeded the guarantee, we weren't charged. In the end we spent more than our original budget but we got way more value than we hoped. The remodel is beautiful and our family is happy. What was the material used as I’ve heard that natural stone can be a problem in steam showers. How did you ensure a seal to protect the light but still change the bulb when it goes out? A: The slab shown in the photo Brazilian Quartzite sourced from Meta Marble and Granite in Seattle. It is not backlit, it is lit by a continuous LED light strip on all 4 sides. A: This floor is a 5" wide by 3/4" thick site finished hard maple floor. Flooring material is domestic hard maple from Michigan.
