> I normally do not take the time to write reviews but my experience with Real Carriage Door and Sliding Hardware was so outstanding that I feel compelled to share my experience. The company's representatives were very professional and knowledgeable about the entire product line when I placed my initial order. The material and parts arrived promptly, and my contractor was able to easily assemble and install the sliding barn door. I then decided I wanted an additional door handle and inadvertently ordered the wrong product; totally my fault. When I contacted the company, they graciously corrected my error and shipped out the door handle I needed that day. I wish I knew more people who might want sliding barn doors in their homes because I would wholeheartedly recommend Real Carriage Door and Sliding Hardware to them.

**Comment from RealCraft:**

> Thank you so much for the feedback, Paula! We're thrilled you had such a positive experience with us. We hope that your barn door and hardware serves you well for years to come! Thank you for choosing to order from us.

**★★★★★ — H Hayden, Dec. 2018**

> The barn door kit was perfect. It arrived promptly and exactly as described. The mechanism works beautifully and was worth every penny. There are many cheaper versions available out there, but for me it was important to get it right the first time. This hardware is sturdy, well done, and aesthetically pleasing as well.

**Comment from RealCraft:**

> Thank you for your review, Heather! We are so glad the hardware was exactly what you had hoped for.

**★★★★★ — Eng Bozzini, Oct. 2018**

> Love the quality. I checked many sites and this one had the best quality in the finish I needed (brass). The only negative is that the site didn't tell me that the color was considered special order so after 3 weeks, I called and I was told special order takes about 4 weeks. Would have been nice to set my expectation prior to purchasing.

**Comment from RealCraft:**

> Thank you for the feedback, Eng. We're so sorry we weren't clear about processing time. After receiving your feedback, we made some changes to that product page to add more information about expected lead times.
> Brass hardware is a new product for us that we are very excited to offer, so we appreciate your feedback on the quality! Thank you so much for choosing us, and we hope to work with you again. -Rejina

**★★★★★ — Lesley Harlan, May 2018**

> We recently ordered custom doors for our 87 year old house from Real Carriage Door. From the very first email Carrie made the process so easy and stress free! Our doors are absolutely beautiful. The craftmanship is amazing and the customer service can't be beat.
> I would highly recommend Carrie and Real Carriage Door!

## Community Q&A

**Q: are barn doors recommended for room entrances?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm designing a bedroom with a walk-in closet and attached bathroom. I thought to use barn doors with frosted glass panels. Since they are not fixed at the bottom, would they be too easy to push in? Would they swing back n forth as air pressure changes with HVAC?

A: Hey Ricardo! Thanks for posting that picture of our door. We use bottom guides to keep doors aligned so they do not sway back and forth or bump the wall. The most popular style we have is called a C-Guide - check it out here.
We also have laminate glass so the panels are completely private and opaque for a bathroom. You would need to call and special order that type of glass. For privacy, we recommend that a sliding barn door overlaps each side of the frame by 2" and on top by 1". You can use high quality weather stripping around the casing for extra noise dampening.

And lastly, we have pocket door hardware too! We love these systems because they slide like butter and don't come off the track or get jammed. They're super easy to operate with minimal effort. Happy to answer any questions you might have, please let me know if I can help out! -Rejina

**Q: what is the size of this door?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the size of the door compare to the size of the doorway and the ceiling height？

A: We recommend that the door overlaps the opening a minimum of 1" all the way around. However if you have the extra space and clearance you can overlap as much as you want, extra overlap does not hurt in the slightest. Please let us know if you have any other questions and we are more than happy to help. Have a great day!

**Q: does the backside of the door look the same as the front?** *(in Product Questions)*

A: Hi @tkaiseraz! The back of the door just shows the vertical planks. It will look like this, except without the horizontal pieces across the top and the bottom of the door. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions for you! -Rejina

**Q: what is maximum door thickness and weight it can support?** *(in Product Questions)*

A: Hi @hae\_newkirk! This hardware is rated for up to 300 pounds per pair of hangers, meaning you could mount more than one 300 pound door on the same track because each door will have its own pair of hangers. There is no maximum thickness; we just recommend having at least a quarter-inch of clearance between the door and the wall. To accomplish this with very thick doors, the hangers do not have to be installed in the center of the door. Here is a link to our installation manual for this product; see page 6 for additional information. And please feel free to message us if you have any other questions! -Rejina

**Q: Available sizes** *(in Product Questions)*

Do you sell this hardware for a 36" door as well? If so, would there be 2 separate attachment points on the door?

A: Hi Elizabeth! Yes, we have sliding hardware for any size door. General rule of thumb for choosing the size of your track is to get one twice the size of your door or larger. So a 36" wide door would need at least a 6 foot track, \[available to purchase here\[(https://www.houzz.com/products/prop-barn-door-hardware-kit-modern-style-black-6-track-for-36-prvw-vr~7928948?lid=1599887). We can make custom tracks too. The door is held on the track by each "hanger," which is the part that comes down and is bolted to the door, so yes, there will be two attachment points no matter what size you choose. Please feel free to message or call us if you have more questions! We also just dropped the price on this product from $392 to $330 since you posted your question ;) -Rejina

**Q: does this com in a bypass kit** *(in Product Questions)*

A: Hi debi91. This particular kit is not available as a bypass, but we have bypass box rail hardware , and we are working on creating a classic barn door hardware bypass kit right now in our shop! Please give us a call with any questions you might have. .
