Tracey Troop's mandate was to provide a lively, elegant reinterpretation of Los Angeles living, respectful of Pasadena's traditionalism but playfully acknowledging the excitement of nearby Hollywood. The resulting interior is elegant, warm and imaginative. Particularly impressive is the fugue of colors as the rooms move from lavendar, to ochre, to rust, to sage green, even including the client's collection of southwestern artifacts-- harmonious, complementary, unexpected, gorgeous. Most importantly, this client had never worked with an interior designer before, because of the client's negative perceptions of professional interior design practices. The Troop Group, however, offered an highly interactive project-- with client leadership in many areas-- and they did it cheerfully and with a spirit of adventure. The result is that the client feels the home is their home-- with their ideas-- and yet the home has achieved a luxuriousness and flair the client could not have accomplished themselves. A: Hello and thank you for your inquiry. This project was completed in 2012, so I'm not able to answer all of your questions as the interior designer. The opening is probably 10'-12' wide.
