There is some engineered wood flooring in the home now but I would like to have it removed and true 3/4" oak floors put down. I also want to take up all carpet that is in the home and install the oak there as well A: Oak is a wonderful choice. One that too many think is old school flooring but if you really think about its grain pattern it ends up most practical in the long run hiding scratches and imperfections best. I recommend a satin sheen as well. It's my favourite. I have white oak myself. Take it from a veteran pro painter, myself (25 years). You must either oil prime first or coarse grit sand and use Pittsburgh paints manor hall line, you'll be just fine.
