He is thorough, did a good job at informing us what our options were, kept a tidy work space and cleaned up completely after finishing the project. **Q: Would this cabinet door look outdated??** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi there, I'm having a new kitchen built and asked the designer to incorporate this type of glass door into the design, I'm just worried that it might look dated down the road? What are your feelings? What glass style would you recommend? I'm doing the same theme with silver hardware though.  Thanks!

A: I like the cabinet doors, they are timeless, however you might consider changing the hardware.

**Q: HELP! Brown/tan counters + White cabinets + White backsplash?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Looking to have our cabinets (professionally) sanded/painted white and love the idea of installing white subway tile backsplash as well. Would this clash terribly with the existing brownish/tan quartz counters, yellow paint, floor tile, etc.? Would very much welcome other suggestions but I'm pretty set on lightning up the cabinetry.

The paint/counters aren't an option to change right now. 
If I do go ahead with having the cabinets painted, would you recommend I have the built-in in the living room (seen in picture \#2) painted as well to tie in?

A: you may consider a french vanilla paint color,  also a back splash that compliment your counter top. love to see photos when you are done.

**Q: Do I dare paint the cabinets?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We live in a unique Acorn home -- kind of ski-lodge style with LOTS of wood. It was built as a vacation home and has a tiny kitchen. Surprisingly, I actually don't mind the size, but I'm in wood overload and the cabinets are very dated. I'd love to paint the cabinets a light gray or white but my husband says her thinks it would look odd in this home. What do you think? (I'm including photos of the adjacent areas, too.)

A: I think your light grey color idea is a winner. it will bring a new look to your home, make sure you change all the hinges as well.

**Q: Gutter question around sidewalk** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We recently purchased a new construction home. Like everything else in a builders spec home they cut anything they can save on, and I feel like our gutters might have been one of them. The downspout is already Starting to stain the sidewalk, but what I'm really worried about is winter. When the water comes out of the gutter then freezes there will be ice covering the sidewalk. Does anyone know how I should run it/ what would be the easiest way/ best route. The front yard does slope slightly.

**Q: Which Door Should I Close Off to my Kitchen?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We
are currently building our kitchen and we have a bunch of issues of
planning it all perfectly. It's mostly because our kitchen room has
doors on two of the walls and a big radiator on the third wall which
leaves us with only one wall to install kitchen elements onto.
So here is a quick sketch I've made from our kitchen room. It has a door
to the hallway and a door to the dining room. The dining room is
connected with the living room and also has access through the hallway.
So we're thinking we should wall in one of the doors, but we're not too
sure which one.
What would you recommend is better:
1\. Wall in the door form the hallway which leaves us with access through
the living room/dining room. This will make it harder to bring the
groceries in and if one is to get into the kitchen he has to pass
through the living room.
2\. Wall in the door to the dining room. This may seem like a better
option, but whenever one should serve meal to the dining room he should
pass through the hallway to get into the dining room.
Both have merits and caveats and we like having both doors, but our
dream kitchen simply cannot be built with both doors existing on the
walls. I mean it would fit the elements nicely in there, but they would be a bit tucked in.
We would like to build a nice large kitchen cabinet with both the oven and speed oven on it, to the wall which will have it's door closed off.
Please guys I need some opinions on this one, I'd be grateful if you can give some. Thanks!

A: I suggest closing door 1 and make the 2nd door opening larger. Also if you can open the hallway from the entry to the family room you should have a nice floor plan.
