> MYD helped build on our vision and enhance our MCM home. The project was a total remodel down to studs for a MCM home that was previously remodeled in a way that was not in line with the architectural history of the home. Jason and Lauren were a pleasure to work with. They helped modernize our home and still honor the original design.

**Comment from Moss Yaw Design studio:**

> Many thanks for the review- working together on your historic project was such a pleasure... Much appreciation and all the best!

> "Design Studio" is a great way to articulate the breadth of services that Lauren and Jason provide. They went far above and beyond what you would receive from traditional architectural firms, and their level of engagement and enthusiasm is second to none. Jason and Lauren are well-versed on every aspect of the process, from initial design concepts, to working through permitting, to interfacing with subcontractors. Subcontractors were universally enthusiastic about their input and responsiveness, while we really appreciated their eye for detail and ability to put concepts into plain English. In addition, while Jason and Lauren are happy to share design ideas, we never felt like they were substituting their design preferences for our own. To the contrary, they always thoughtfully incorporated our feedback into their designs. Finally, throughout the process, Jason and Lauren were able to identify areas of potential expense, as well as possibilities for cost savings (e.g., where a minor change could result in significant savings). We really cannot say enough about how pleased we are to have worked with Lauren and Jason, and will do so again on any future projects.

**Comment from Moss Yaw Design studio:**

> Thanks very much for the kind words and positive review- it has been a great experience to work with you on such a distinctive and beautiful project, and we are so pleased with the results of our collaboration.
> Much appreciation and all the best, Lauren + Jason

> Jason and Lauren are the sweetest, kindest pros we've ever worked with. From the moment we met them at their studio, we knew they were the ones to design our home, which is beautiful by the way. They are prompt and efficient. If you text or email them, they get back to you immediately. We weren't sure about designing a modern home, but now we're absolutely in love with it. You won't be sorry if you choose these two fine architects for your project.

**Comment from Moss Yaw Design studio:**

> Many thanks and much appreciation for the thoughtful review- it's been such a pleasure working together, and we're so glad to hear that you're enjoying your beautiful new home! Cheers and all the best, Lauren + Jason

> After meeting Jason and Lauren we were so excited to start working with them on the complete renovation of our early '60s mid century modern home. They listened to what our main objectives were and came up with a design that far exceeded our expectations! Jason and Lauren were able to come up with solid solutions to some of the problems that arose as a result of it being a 60-year-old home, They helped us all the way through to completion of construction (and beyond) with engineers, the City, the selection of the material palettes, and many last minute important decisions that we needed help with; and they were always available for our many questions. Their attention to detail has given our home some very special unique touches! Jason and Lauren also helped us select the perfect contractors for our renovation project..and in the end, they have created a beautiful home that was far beyond what we could have imagined on our own. We love it, and we get SO many compliments from friends, neighbors and passer-bys. We would not hesitate to recommend Moss Yaw Design to anyone looking for a beautiful, unique design on their home.

> Jason and Lauren designed a new contemporary home for us from the ground up. From our first meeting with them where we gave them a rough list of our must-have design ideas, they hit the ground running. They took our ideas and with their creativity and talent, designed a home more beautiful than we ever imagined. Jason and Lauren were wonderful to work with throughout the process. We especially loved their constant attention to detail and ability to modify things if the need arose. Jason and Lauren brought great material ideas and samples to us to choose from throughout the process. Their plans were accurate and complete and went through the city without a hitch; a sign of a job well done! We would not hesitate to recommend Jason and Lauren to anyone who wants a well thought out and unique design for their re-model or new construction.

**Comment from Moss Yaw Design studio:**

> Many thanks and much appreciation for the thoughtful review, as well the opportunity to work on a fantastic project with such great clients- we're so pleased with the results!

> We worked with MYD studio on a complete remodel of our home in Huntington Beach – a full redesign of the house, an addition, landscape, hardscape, and pool. The home has been in our family for decades so it was important to get it right. We considered several firms but after our first meeting with Jason and Lauren, we knew we had found the right team to bring to life our dreams. They listened to our ideas and expertly made them better. They are easy to work with and consistently went above and beyond throughout the project. Considering their impact, their fees were a great value. In addition to design services, they helped us navigate the build with the sourcing of contractors and materials, as well as construction management support. The house is even better than we hoped. We love it! The design is distinctively modern with unique architectural details that are eye catching and consistently earn compliments. We wholeheartedly recommend Jason and Lauren to prospective clients and look forward to working with them again in the future!

> The minute we met with Jason and Lauren, we knew we found the right team for our project. From the start, they brought creative ideas and solutions to the table to help fix issues with our home. They worked closely with us to help us manage a full remodel and add-on from beginning to end directly with qualified contractors. Not only were their solutions efficient, they ended up being beautiful. We were grateful for their quick responses to (many) questions and countless extra hours they dedicated to our project. When people come over to our home now, they are in awe at the beautiful transformation. We sometimes find ourselves looking around and thinking: \*is this really our home?...it's so dreamy!\* We made the right choice teaming up with MYD Studio. We'd hire them again in a heartbeat.

**★★★★★ — Michael & Jennifer Shen, Dec. 2017**

> In 2014 we purchased a 1960s era duplex and searched for an architecture firm to help with a total down to the studs remodel. After interviewing many architects, we found MYD here on Houzz and felt that Jason and Lauren matched what we wanted, both in tasteful contemporary design as well as architects who were easy to communicate with. After lots of meeting and visits to the city, they were able to successfully navigate the notoriously difficult city of Laguna Beach to get our plans approved.
> They then helped us with construction management, saving us a ton of money. We knew that we would not be able to afford the remodel otherwise and were delighted when they agreed to oversee and manage the project. They had many connections to subcontractors who did a great job and were able to meet and pass all our city inspections, which is no easy thing in Laguna Beach. Nothing ever goes smoothly in a remodel, especially on a place 50 plus years old, but with every bump and turn, we felt we could rely on Jason and Lauren to help see us through the difficult patches. The subcontractors were very responsive knowing Jason was monitoring the work and we never felt like a sub he recommended was going to do subpar work or take a deposit and never show up again.
> Throughout the process, we felt the best part was that we could text or call without any hesitation. They were and still are never "too busy" for us, and with a any remodel, communication is key. They kept us on budget (once I wanted to buy some fancy faucets and Jason redirected me) and helped us picked great materials and fixtures, passing along any discounts they could get. We also never felt nickel and dimed and they were super honest with billing.
> If we ever decide to remodel again, we would not hesitate to call Jason and Lauren again!

> MYD Studio designed our complete rebuild and 400 square foot addition to a non-descript 1950's ranch house in Sierra Madre. My wife wrote a review when we first moved in back on January 3. Now that we've been living in the house for 10 months, we're even more enamored with our home. It is beautiful yet has a very functional floorplan. The original house was dark - our new home is filled with light and views of the mountains. We can have houseguests and we don't even know they're there as they are on the other side of the house from our bedroom. Dozens of people walking down the street have told us how beautiful our home is and that it looks like a house they would see on Dwell. Everyone who comes inside loves it as well- in fact our friends want to have parties here because they like the house so much. We thank Lauren and Jason - they had such vision on how to transform the non-descript ranch both architecturally and through interior design. This was our second project with Lauren and Jason, and they agreed to take it on even though their shop is 60 miles from our new home. Similar to our previous project, they were a pleasure to work with; they listened carefully to what we wanted, and came up with designs better than we could even imagine. Moreover, they were always available to offer suggestions and advice for exterior and interior materials and design, from large to small details. We love this home and don't have any intentions of moving. However, we'd love to work with Lauren and Jason on another project - it's transformative.

> We worked with principals of MYDstudio -- Lauren Moss and Jason Yaw to coordinate the interior design of our Mark Singer home in Laguna Beach. They were extremely sensitive to the contemporary design of the house and blended the furniture style to match the lines and spaces in our home. They listened to our needs but also pushed the boundaries with innovative ideas and design recommendations. They are very professional, 'think outside the box', creative warm and a pleasure to work with.

**★★★★★ — jqgil, Nov. 2015**

> We hired Jason and Lauren to design and manage our second floor remodel. Most of the design and construction centered around our master bedroom and bath. We were impressed with their attention to our goals and requirements and their creative solution turned out beautifully. Their focus was on quality design, materials and construction and it shows clearly in the finished work. Communication was proactive, clear, regular and absolutely a delight. Scheduling was realistic and construction was on budget and on schedule with the exception of one or two unexpected delays due to outside manufacturers' late deliveries. We are thrilled with our remodel and highly recommend Jason and Lauren.

> MYD Studio was very professional in all aspects; from concept thru construction management. The design process was always conscious of the "Mid-century modern" style of our home and the budget. As owners we feel the end results far exceeded our every wish!

I love this roof, but how do you clean the outside windows above the roof? Does someone walk on the roof 2-3 times a year to clean the glass?

A: To maintain the clerestory windows, they would have to be accessed via the roof or a ladder; however, since this isn't our area or expertise, we would defer to a professional window cleaner.
