Stu was the third architect we hired for this massive home project (a completely new home). And not only did he perform superbly as an architect he also located an incredible contractor for us who was just amazing. Stu's many strengths include - being able to work with my extremely demanding, controlling and opinionated spouse to create his dream house. Stu was responsible, timely, efficient, and thorough in his work. His ideas for the project were creative and user friendly. The house is absolutely magnificent. Even though he was not located in our immediate area he was able to manage and follow the project from beginning to end. He was able to work within the constraints of our budget. He allowed the project to continue moving forward at as rapid a pace as was possible in our heavily zoned and controlled area. Everyone who comes into the house comments on what a magnificent home it is. The spaces are the right size and organization. I think I can honestly say that without Stu's ability to work well with all the players involved in this project, his sensitivity to the budget, and his creative solutions to problems that we would never have been able to complete the project and would be living in a partially completed house! I can't imagine a better architect. Even though our style of home was not the type that he was used to designing he was able to easily work with us. We also used some new building techniques - including SIPS panels for the construction along with a new radiant floor heating system, he was able to easily learn the new areas of construction. For a time we had a designer associated with the project who turned out to be impossible to work with in the end. Stu, however, worked well with him while he was still engaged with the project and never complained. We ultimately fired the designer (I think he thought we needed him more than we needed Stu....he was very, very wrong). There was no question. **★★★★★ — glycoman, Dec. 2012** > The architect was faced with a very difficult challenge, to take a 100 year old clapboard house that was 1200 square feet in area and transform it into a 1800 square foot house with an open floor design all while preserving the historical character of the residence. An exceptionally clever design was employed that resulted in what is considered one of the most outstanding homes in Ann Arbor.
