> Working with Joe, Shane and Cindy at Attleboro Kitchen and Bath to remodel our outdated kitchen was a wonderful experience. They were extremely helpful and dedicated especially since our kitchen renovation started just prior to the Pandemic in March 2020.. The entire team was professional, yet friendly to work with. Our kitchen came out beyond all expectations. I refer to our kitchen as "my happy kitchen". It is beautiful and inviting. My husband and I highly recommend Attleboro Kitchen and Bath without any reservation.

> I am extremely pleased with the renovation work done in my kitchen by Attleboro Kitchen and Bath. The finished work is outstanding.
> From the beginning Joe's professional knowledge helped me in making my selections of materials. He accommodated the requirements of my Condominium Association.
> During the process the quality of Joe's work and that of his team was evident.
> Joe communicated with me during each step of the work. He attended to all the necessary details and met the proposed timetable. Additionally he knew my budget and stayed within its perimeters.
> I highly recommend Attleboro Kitchen and Bath.

> We hired Attleboro Kitchen and Bath to redo our kitchen from the floor to the ceiling. It was a wonderful experience. This was such a large (and costly) undertaking that we were nervous. They were very communicative about what they were doing. They were very clean and always tidied up everyday, since we had a three year old in the house that was important.
>
> Attleboro Kitchen and Bath also met every deadline that they set and we threw a few changes into the original plan and they absorbed them into the project and still met all the deadlines.
>
> I felt that they were fair, honest, competitively priced, and their work was detailed and quality. I would highly recommend them if you need work done.

> Attleboro Kitchen and Bath recently updated our kitchen. We live in an antique reproduction home and it was important to keep the style to the colonial time period. Joe and his crew did a fabulous job in doing that. They also kept to schedule and budget. I was very impressed with each and every crafts-person that they used. Everyone was polite, respectful and always on time. I will definitely use them when it's time for our next project!

**★★★★★ — darlinenelson, Dec. 2014**

> I had two complete bathroom renovations completed by Attleboro Kitchen and Bath in Attleboro, MA.
> The job was completed within the time frame and just above the estimated budget. I am very happy with the completed job; the workers were very respectful of both my home and my time. They were all very professional and completed the job as asked. I plan on hiring them to do my third and final bathroom renovation in a few months!

**★★★★★ — trina12345, Dec. 2013**

> Attleboro Kitchen and Bath updated our kitchen, living room, mud room and downstairs bathroom. Cindy and Joe drew up two different plans and we loved both of them, but ended up going with the less expensive due to budget constraints.
>
> The final proposal was very detailed with prices of everything, pictures, measurements and timeline. Cindy and Joe were both very accessible throughout the entire remodel and any problems were communicated right away and handled quickly. Our job was estimated to take 5 weeks and they finished right on time...even after we decided to throw them a curveball at the very last minute converting our conventional fireplace into a gas burning fireplace!
>
> We have been so happy with our "new" home and would recommend them to anyone!

**★★★★★ — petuniarosie, Nov. 2013**

> Attleboro Kitchen and Bath are great! They designed a spectacular bathroom for me about three years ago – making my very small space feel luxurious with a heated floor and glass blocks to let more light in and make it feel much larger. I was so pleased with my bathroom that when I was ready to move last year, I contacted them again to design a new kitchen to facilitate the sale. Again, they were able to take my relatively small kitchen and create a beautiful and very functional space. I almost didn't want to move, but was thrilled when the house sold in 24 hours!
>
> The outcomes were perfect for both my bathroom and kitchen, and the process was very user friendly for someone easily intimidated by the countless choices involved. When I came into the showroom, Cindy skillfully narrowed down the choices as we talked so that the final selections were easy and were just what I had in mind!
>
> Whether you have small spaces as I did, or the larger ones everyone wants, I highly recommend Attleboro Kitchen and Bath to help you design your ideal kitchen or bath.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Best sink size for 8ft island?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

New kitchen remodel - island is 8ft x 4ft. Right now I’m thinking 18 inch trash, 30 inch sink cabinet, 24 inch dishwasher and 24 inch wine fridge.
My concern is how big of a sink can I get in the 30inch cabinet and will it be large enough? I can always reduce the wine fridge down to 18 and pick up 6 more inches for the sink. But then I worry will it be too big on the island?
So... What’s an ideal sink size for an 8ft island?
Thanks!

A: If you were the type of person who uses a double bowl sink to wash on one side and dry on the other, for example, then yes, go for a 36" base and a larger sink. If not, I think you'll be fine with a 30" sink base and a single bowl sink if you use a D shaped sink. It will give you ample space to wash and what-not and it will not overpower the island. The D shaped bowl is larger front to back so it gives more room than a traditional rectangle single bowl. Good Luck!

**Q: the counter top; Cambria Quartz - what is the name of this countertop** *(in Photo Questions)*

I am having a house built with these cabinets but can not decide on the countertop. I want Quartz and our floor will be luxury vinyl in a darker tone brown floor. I don't want a dark kitchen but I would like a good flow.

A: Hello - the quartz on the perimeter cabinetry was Windermere by Cambria.

**Q: Love the countertops, what are they? Where could I find a sample?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Stacey - This is Colonial Gold granite. It is lovely. If you are in the Southeast MA area, we could help you locate a sample. Please feel free to contact me directly cindy@attleborokitchenandbath.com. Thanks!

**Q: Countertops... questions, advice, suggestions... HELP** *(in Remodeling)*

We need help with the last piece of the puzzle... and am so overwhelmed and confused and frustrated.

Backstory: You know that pipe in the center of the house that flooded the house? Yeah, that one. It took out the whole house flooring, kitchen and bath cabinets, 2 bathrooms, lots of drywall...

After MONTHS of frustration, we have FINALLY picked the flooring, paint (SW Fawn Brindle, trim is whatever paint-matched off white/cream that came with the hosue), cabinets (Forevermark Greystone), subway tile for bath/shower walls, penny tile for shower floor, accent tile (can or can not be used as kitchen backsplash), Pictures of cabinet whatever and what everything looks like all together included

Counters are now the nightmare at hand. We can't install cabinets and live without counters and we can't have them measure counters without new cabinets installed. We would love to have a fancy quartz since it has almost no maintenance and I have dirty/splashy kids. This isn't our forever home, so top dollar is out.

We stumbled upon some solid surface counters? The guy at big box said it is the best thing since sliced bread and this is what people want now in their kitchen?

The resale on the word "granite" sends ooohhhhhssssss and aaaahhhhhsssss. I think quartz would be one heck of a selling point with the thought of zero work. Personally, I LOVE LOVE LOVE butcher block (always have and always will) but is that just a quick trend to throwback or is it here to stay? Is this solid surface really the bees knees like Mr Orange Apron said it is? I just know with the cabinets being so dark, something lighter is probably the right answer.

I am so totally over picking out things, I need my houzz friends to take the wheel on this one.

A: Without knowing the brand name of the product you are referring to, I can only tell you that composite solid-surface countertops have been around for a long time so maybe the orange-apron gentleman is just new to the product.
These solid surfaces are composites that are acrylic based or polyester based. More common manufacturers are Corian, Formica (not their laminate), Staron, Avonite and Swanstone. They are good looking and non-porous but not necessarily cheaper. They are also not heat resistant. Not sure where you are, but here in New England there are some granites that are much less $-wise than the composites. There are also some quartz brands that are not far off the mark either. If you are dealing with a reputable countertop retailer/installer they should be able to give you prices for all three types very easily.
It looks like you have granite and quartz samples in your picture so it looks like you have already chosen those colors. They are nice and a good compliment to the dark grey cabinetry. The granite looks to have netting on the back which usually means it is a granite that is more expensive (the netting is used to secure the stone's integrity as some granite is more brittle than others - this means more careful handling to mine it and, therefore, more cost to produce). In New England, Moonlight and Viscont White are less expensive granite choices in the white/cool color range.
Lastly, I would speak with a real estate professional in your area to get feedback as well if resale is really a concern. They will know what potential buyers are looking for. Let us know what you decide upon! Good Luck!

**Q: Kitchen Cabinets (New and Old)** *(in Remodeling)*

I am trying to figure out if I can redo my kitchen by painting the existing cabinets. I hate the island though, so I wanted to rip it out and put in a new one. I can't find the exact cabinets I have now. I want to do the existing cabinets white, and put in a new island with a royal/navy blue cabinets. How do I figure our what cabinet faces will go with the old ones? Go totally different style or try and "almost match" them? I don't want to regret my choices! What type can I match with my existing? HELP :) The first two photos are of current cabinets. The third picture is of the backsplash tile I like, the white color for cabinets, new countertops, and the blue color I'd like for the new island! The floors will be staying the same.

A: Hello - thanks for sharing your project ideas here. You have a lovely home. Without knowing what you don't like about your current island but knowing that you like "European Farmhouse" styling, I have a few ideas.
\- In looking at the pictures of your home, the wood tones and your current furnishings are very warm with soft beige undertones. I believe if you painted the kitchen cabinetry and only some of the woodwork a cool white, it may be jarring visually. My suggestion would be to consider a slight off-white with a beige or taupe undertone. This will brighten the space but it will not make it look out of place.
\- Navy blue is a hot trend right now but I would agree with Sophie's sentiment of not getting caught up in a trend. Even though the advice was worded strongly, I think she is just cautioning you to be sure your investment is worthwhile in the long run. But mostly, for me, when I think European Farmhouse, I think antiqued-paint finishes and a softer blue tone - like a robins egg or wedgewood blue. But that's just me :) Whatever you chose, consider a adding a distressed finish to it.
\- For the island, you have the opportunity to really inject your style here. Adding chunky farmhouse legs, open space below or even a wood top would add more European Farmhouse feel (in my opinion).
\- Two islands - I personally love the look and functionality of a working island parallel to an island with seating. You do have an open area where another island could sit but I believe it may encroach on the space where you intend on putting a reading nook. Remember, it would not just be the island in the space but the traffic flow around it that you would need to consider. Not sure if you like the look, but a T-shaped island with a lower table-level section would fit the space well and would replace the table seating where the reading nook will go.
So those are just my immediate ideas. A local design professional would really be able to help you best with both color and space in redesigning your home. It would be a worthwhile investment. Take what you like and leave the rest :) Best of luck!

**Q: Help with kitchen floorplan** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm trying to finalize my kitchen floor plan. We are knocking out walls and opening up.

I'm attaching a floor plan, my OLD floor plan, and the picture I showed the designer, I wanted to remove the island and combine the kitchen/dining with the table in the kitchen. This is the plan I have liked best so far. I'm not sure about the entry area though, I don't know if I like the half wall and little freestanding cabinet thing he put in. Anyone have any other ideas? I want to use the former breakfast area as a place for my kids to do homework, crafts, mail center, etc.

Thanks

A: Hello Musikal,
I love your inspiration photo! These are so important to help everyone "see" the same vision.
It is difficult to make out the architect's notes on the layout so I cannot comment in depth. I see the half wall at the entry but not sure what "freestanding cabinet" you are referring to. Is it possible for you to post a close-up shot of that area?
One thing that jumps out at me is that your prep areas seem like they may be limited. It appears you have a 48" range on the drawing (again, not sure on that) so I can only assume you do a fair amount of cooking and entertaining. I would just caution you to make sure you are comfortable with the amount of prep/counter space available on your single run of cabinetry. In your inspiration pictures, the table is set up to utilize as an island prep area - closer to the cabinetry, one side open (no chairs) for working and at a comfortable height for both prep and dining. Your drawing floats the dining table further from the main work area since that area is more narrow.
Good luck!
