KT tiles owned by Kalev Tagobert caught my attention when I saw 35 of 36 reviews rated as 5.0. I asked for an in-home estimate where we discussed my thoughts, desires, and vision. Afterward we negotiated a cost, which I considered satisfactory based on other similar work I had contracted for in the past. He arrived daily on time and worked full days. On completion of the job I can see why he is evaluated at 5.0. His work was professional, precise, completed in a timely manner, and done with quality workmanship. The finished bathroom looks outstanding and more than met our expectations. The tile installation went well, but unfortunately he used a bright white grout with a very dark gray/almost black tile even though we clearly stated we wanted a medium gray grout and showed him the exact color we wanted. Unfortunately, we left a check for him before we saw the grout color. Now I am spending my entire Labor Day weekend laboring to use a medium gray colorant to paint the grout with the thinnest artist's paintbrush I could find, a terriblly frustrating process that will take much longer than the original grout installation. It is looking terrible even though I am being very careful. We had a very hard time communicating with Kalev, he was minimally responsive. They also made a very big mess, we found large chunks of hardened grout in the new stainless steel sink that have discolored it, gotten adhesive on the walls that won't come off, and badly scratched the tile itself, even though my husband and I sealed it ahead of time. I know it was careless because there are some tiles that are fine, so I can only conclude that the severe scratching was poor workmanship. We gave him the opportunity to give us some help or advice about how to proceed, but he did not reply after he had already gotten his full payment. DO NOT give full payment until you are totally satisfied the job was completed correctly. I would gladly pay well for a job well done but the fee was extravagant considering the poor workmanship. There are always things that do not turn out as expected and we are flexible with those things, but a minimum of care or professionalism would easily have prevented this terrible looking kitchen floor. The lack of subsequent communication alone make it easy to recommend you not hire KT Tile. **Comment from KT tile:** > I was disappointed to read your feedback and would like to emphasise the points you mentioned in your review are simply not true. Firstly, when I started the job I mentioned that the chosen floor tiles are not suitable for a kitchen floor as they would scratch easily. Previous contractor said the same thing and left the job. I was as careful as I could be and covered the tiles to protect them, however it was inevitable not to avoid > some minor scratches in the installation process and the “bad scratches” like you said came from moving the fridge. As for the grout color, I used a medium grey as requested, however against the black tiles the grout color looked too light in your opinion/liking, I acted under your instruction and color choices. Also, the mess in the sink is again exaggerated, I only washed my hands in it and did not leave a mess, I always try and keep the client’s home clean and tidy and try minimalize any disturbance or mess. Finally, and most importantly, I did get in touch after you highlighted the issue with the grout color and wanted to come to see you to work out a solution, however you declined this offer and were not interested in communicating further nor seeing me. I will always try and resolve any issues as best I can. > I pride myself on the quality of work and service I give my clients, as you can see the rest of the 5\* reviews are testament to my excellent craftmanship. He is prompt and provides quick response to many of my inquiries, as a matter of fact he came to our house few hours just after I sent an inquiry about getting a quote for bathroom renovation. He's direct, guides you through the renovation stages, gives feedback and also recommends great quality materials/products that are low cost. To keep our bathroom renovation under budget, we made our vanity counter from reclaimed wood which he was glad to work with and provide us option on how they can install it which turned out beautifully.
