**★★★★★ — Randall Kilian, May 2024**

> I have known Gayle since 1956. He is one of the most innovative people I have ever known and has been since I met him. Starting from very humble roots in Russell, Kansas, home of Bob Dole and Phil Anschutz, Gayle worked his way to becoming the Frank Lloyd Wright of Denver Architecture. As Gayle's career winds down, I asked him to design a remodel and addition to an 1891 Russell County, Kansas Homested limestone house. The design and recommendation have been raved about by the contractor and subs who have bid it out. We are waiting to begin once all the bids are in and a start date can be set up in the middle of western Kansas. This is Gayle's first Kansas designed home. Can't wait to see its final outcome.

> We could not be happier with our new rustic contemporary home! Gayle and Eric were very easy to work with. They listened to our ideas and were able to design the house of our dreams. We would recommend them to anyone!

**★★★★★ — Frank Maggio, Dec. 2018**

> Gayle was very creative in taking his award winning skills and turning our dream home into a reality. Unlike other architects we interviewed, his fee is based upon the square footage of the home versus the build-out cost. This made a huge difference in design costs. Coordination with our contractor was simplified via Gayle's expertise.

**★★★★★ — Kim Hopfenspirger, Dec. 2018**

> Gayle Berkey was hired 2012 to by Kim and Rhonda Hopfenspirger to coordinate the layout and design, bid process, permitting, and construction of our 5800 square foot home.
> Gayle brought experience, passion, professionalism and the ability to listen to our needs and ideas, incorporating into an unbelievable layout and design of our home.
> The budget for our home was 1.6 million. Completed cost came in at less than 1% over budget.

> We hired Gayle Berkey back in 2008 to design our mountain home. After many delays, modifications and permitting issues (none of which were Gayle’s fault) our home was completed in October 2018. He worked hand in hand with the builder throughout construction providing input and modifications as necessary. Gayle and his team were nothing but a pleasure to work with. Ultimately Gayle designed a superior home on a very difficult site. We would highly recommend Gayle for your architectural needs.

**★★★★★ — Michael Payne, Jan. 2018**

> Gayle Berkey Architects and Monarch Homes Inc. have successfully executed multiple projects together over the years ranging from custom homes in the low $1 million construction costs all the way to one of the largest homes in Colorado.
>
> Gayle and I gravitate towards the extremely difficult projects because of our shared love of a challenge and thanks to his knack for thinking outside the box we have completed all them on time and on budget. Thus leaving behind a trail of happy clients which we both have had the pleasure of creating long lasting relationships with.
>
> I could never speak highly enough of Gayle and the abilities of his team which is why he has been our go to architect for years. His level of detail is comparable and exceeds many of the commercial architectural firms we have worked with in our 30 years of construction experience.

**★★★★★ — info71910, May 2016**

> We originally contacted Gayle Berkey Architects because we were impressed with the Architectural Design of a home we had walked through over a decade ago. Not only did we build a great professional working relationship with Gayle and his staff over the years, we have come to refer our clients to their office knowing he will provide a great value not to mention exceptional architectural design!

**★★★★★ — Summit Chalet, Aug. 2015**

> Summit Chalet has been involved with Gayle Berkey Architects on various projects for over 25 years. Gayle is an award winning architect that listens to us and our clients and delivers the vision of the client.

**★★★★★ — bswinslow, July 2015**

> I have worked with Gayle for many years and always appreciated his creative abilities and laid back style. HIs home designs are among the best in Denver and his construction drawings are through and accurate. I highly recommend Gayle and his team.

**★★★★★ — ellis819, July 2015**

> Gayle has designed two homes for us. Both have been good experiences. He takes the time to understand our needs, style and budget when developing the plans. Works well with the builder and local building departments, HOA's, etc. Knowledgeable about building codes so plans go through on the first application.
>
> Our most recent home that we moved into this year was on a very challenging riverfront lot. Gayle took the time to visit the site (3 hours away from his office) so that he understood the challenges to overcome as well as the need to position the house to maximize the views.
>
> Gayle will not design you a cookie cutter house. It will be unique and interesting. Highly recommend his services.

**★★★★★ — 9389989, July 2015**

> Erdkamp Construction is very picky in selecting Architects. We interviewed approximately 50 architects before selecting Gayle Berkey Architects. The have done design work for over 10 years now with us and we are very happy with their work. I highly recommend them.

**★★★★★ — Inscape Outdoor Design, March 2014**

> I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Gayle Berkey Architects on multiple custom residential designs. We have created a unique team approach while working together, which ensures a beautiful home design both inside and out. It is refreshing to work with a team that is adept at navigating county requirements, committee meetings, budgets, and strict timelines, all while providing homeowners with a picturesque dream home.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Help with new bathroom layout** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Would like some assistance with the layout of a new build townhouse i am buying.

I am looking to have a 1670x670 shower over bath instead of a shower and would like a vanity bigger than the 600mm wide one currently shown on the plan below.

To the left of the bathroom is a bedroom which you can see the wardrobe, and then a small store cupboards, on the right is another bedroom, which has a wardrobe and then linen.

I can swap the store and linen cupboards around and also move the door, which is a 710mm hinge door.

There are no windows in the bathroom and the only requirement i'd like is to not have the toilet be in clear view of the door, ie first thing you see (but if this isnt possible its not a deal breaker).

Would ideally like a 750/800/900mm vanity.

What i've come up with so far is the SOB goes along wall where toilet vanity currently is, vanity goes on wall where shower is, and then the toilet go where the doorway currently is and move the doorway over. If anyone can come up with anything better i'd love to hear it.

Thanks heaps in advance for your time and suggestions.

**Q: Can you tell me what kind of stone the patio pavers are? Thanks!** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Not sure on patio stone, only designed Cabanna and House. Pool by others.

**Q: Circular drive** *(in Photo Questions)*

we are looking at doing a circular drive and wondered how wide this one is?

A: 13' inner radius, 32' outer radius, really can't be much tighter

**Q: What is the name and manufacturer of the stone for the fireplace?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Not sure. The builder picked materials. Stoneridge Homes of Denver.

**Q: What is the pool house dimensions?** *(in Photo Questions)*

**Q: What are used on the walls.** *(in Photo Questions)*

I'm looking to do this on my redo for my home but not sure how to explain what that is. Is it real stone?

A: Sorry so late. It's cultured stone about 1 1/2" thick. Telluride, I believe.
