The cabin came with a new SS french door fridge and a new 18” dishwasher that is black but has a reversible panel that switches to a SS front but the controls and bottom plate are still black. There is also a white single bowl cast iron sink we are going to reuse. I recently had to replace my toaster and the only model available for quick delivery was in white. This toaster will be moved to the guest kitchen when we finish the remodel. It came yesterday and I just love the white, so crisp. So now I’m thinking of doing the little range in white. Also, the cabinets are going to be ikea white grimslov which is slightly off white. Haven’t decided on countertops yet, but I’m hoping for dark paperstone. this is the kitchen we are taking out, but pic shows dishwasher and sink we are keeping. A: Did you go with PaperStone? We'd love to see images if so! **Q: Help! Does this bksplash go with our kitchen? Is it too blingy?** *(in Remodeling)* My husband and I have started designing a kitchen remodel and expansion. We're trying to decide on a backsplash and can't figure out if this backsplash is going to end up too blingy or if it'll be just fine. This not a great picture of it. The colors under the glass are metallics in gold, silver, and copper with a decently thick clear shiny glass coating. It'll be a 12-18 inch backsplash for roughly 25' of counter space in a ~ 20x15 space. Would the size of the tiles make a difference in whether its busyness/blingyness? Is it a huge risk for resale in ~4-10 years? Other kitchen elements: We're consider maple both knotted or not and walnut. If we chose it, the maple would be lightly stained to bring out natural grain. The base cabinets will be a shaker style. We're not sure if we're going to have uppers or go with an open shelving look for the uppers. The countertops will be either butcher block wood in John Boos Walnut or Maple, or Black Walnut or chocolate Paperstone shown below. We're considering other backsplashes as well, but this is by far the most "statement piece" design and we're a bit out of our element with figuring this out. Thanks a lot you guys and gals! I'm sure it looks great! **Q: Paperstone dish drainer?** *(in Kitchens)* We are pretty much sold on paperstone counters for our kitchen remodel. My DW had the idea of having grooves cut into the counter next to the sink for a built-in dishdrainer affect (like they used to do with cast-iron sink/counter combos). Has anyone ever seen this done or know if it's even possible? Or is it advisable with paperstone--it's supposed to be nonporous but I'm not sure it could stand up to this.
