We paid her $250 for a design consultation and design plan. I was very clear when we spoke on the phone prior to hiring her that I wanted help with color choices and finishes and furniture layout. She assured me that that was her strength. She came to our home and we discussed what we were looking for. She mentioned at that time that she had a furniture line and she seemed to talk us out of what we wanted in favor of her furniture line. At this time, I thought purchasing her furniture was an option. When we scheduled our next meeting a couple of weeks later, I informed her on the phone that we had selected furniture (from another source) and she said that I had done her job and I could tell she was upset or frustrated. It was at that time that she indicated that purchasing her furniture was expected otherwise "there was no money to be made". I feel like the expectation to purchase her furniture was never made clear and certainly didn't realize that it was dependent on continuing her services. Overall, I feel like she could have been more upfront about her expectations. She is a very knowledgeable, kind lady, so easy to work with and attentive to details. The interior of our home has been graced with new paint, paper and window coverings throughout.
