While they were quick to come out and give us and estimate on the cost, and the technician recommended the wood shutters because they would last the life of our home; they also in stalled as promised. But their service ended there. Just a year into the purchase the paint has began to crack and peel. I called the company to report the problem and the office manager told me that it had to be water damage and that was not covered by the warranty. In fact she stated they would not send anyone out to look at the damage because of the distance from their store, but I would text the a picture of the damage. But she told me I could speak with technician (Blake). He was polite and also said it was water damage. My response was if it was damage from water wouldn’t there be water marks on other parts of the window and even the walls, since it would take sometime and soaking for the wood to absorb enough water to do that much damage. He said maybe the water had been cleaned up, but again no one offered to come out and look at the damage. He finally said he would speak to the owner Alan about the problem. Blake called me back the next day and said that Alan was not willing to repair rather for free. This was even after I had told Blake in our previous days conversation that we were improving the basement and would need an additional shutter for more 8 windows. > I frankly think it was quite cowardly of the owner not calling me himself, to discuss the problem. I think I would have wanted to keep a customer happy, but maybe he is just so busy that they don’t need more customers or happy customers. > I will not recommend this company for your shutters. As the photos display classic signs of water damage, we feel that our offer to repair the damage at cost was fair and we would rather be upfront about our pricing rather than inflate the price of future shutters. The new spelling is “WASATCH SHUTTER DESIGN”. > Let me tell you my experience. I was having some serious problems with my shutters that I purchased from another provider, who is now out of business. > To get some technical advice, I called Wasatch Shutter Design to ask some questions as to how to fix my shutters. I first talked to their receptionist, Diane. Even after explaining that I did not purchase my shutters from them, she brought in their design layout person, Russ, to see if he could assist. He provided excellent advice and offered to provide parts at no charge. He gave me directions to their location and let me know that he had an out of office appointment, but that there would be someone there to answer any additional questions. > When I arrived, I did have more questions, so Diane called in Alan…the Owner. Alan spent about 45 minutes with me (mostly after their normal closing time), which included taking me into their shop where he introduced me to Juan, one of their craftsmen. Juan gave me specific instructions and made me a template which showed me exactly how to modify my shutters so that they would operate as they should. They also gave me a drill bit of the proper size and several parts at no charge. > If they treat me, one who bought my shutters elsewhere, this well, I can only imagine how they would treat one of their own customers. In my book they are at the top of the list in customer service. I also looked at the quality of their product, which I found was also top notch.
