We did not find this to be the case! Our project was completed between January and May 2022, and we have now lived in our renovated home for over six months. We are pleased to confirm the quality of the work overall seems great. Moreover, when we did have an unexpected issue recently arise (a small leak during an exceptionally long and heavy rainstorm), we called John and he came over immediately to assess the issue. He went out on the roof himself in the wind and rain to create a temporary fix, and had the relevant subtrade back to our house to do a complete repair within a matter of days (before the next rainfall). John took responsibility and helped us to resolve the issue, and then came back himself to touch up the paint inside. While he was here addressing the touch up, he noticed another small area that could benefit from some added caulking. He took it upon himself to correct that issue when we had not even noticed it. The master bath with tub, and 2nd bath with shower & bench was completed in approx. 3 weeks. Then kitchen and powder room demoed, with 2 layers of floor tile removed, and attractive new tile installed that is level with the main floor. A: This is a discontinued IKEA cabinet door style, but if you remove one of the doors from the kitchen you have and bring it to a paint store, I'm sure they'd be able to match it. **Q: Can I save plaster molding if I open up this load bearing wall?** *(in Remodeling)* I am in the planning stages for a kitchen remodel. I believe my best option is to open up part of the wall between the dining room and kitchen and add a peninsula. I have not yet consulted a structural engineer, but I am almost certain this is a load bearing wall. It runs perpendicular to the floor joists below it and sits directly above (in a parallel direction) a steel i-beam. I've included a picture below of my dining room wall (picture 1) and an inspiration picture of a home with a nearly identical kitchen/dining layout (picture 2). I live in a 1930s colonial with original plaster crown molding that I would very much like to remain. Is it possible to add a beam to open up about 5-6ft of the wall to the right of the doorway without destroying the molding above the opening? A: Yes, you absolutely can save it, particularly since the plaster crown is only on one side. We have done this numerous times in older homes. Much the same process as doing any dropped beam: Build two temporary support walls on both sides of the subject wall. Strip drywall (or lath/plaster, gyproc, whatever) from the designated opening area on both sides, right up to the the top plate on the kitchen side (but leaving the crown and a section of wall below the crown on the dining room side deep enough to reach the bottom of the beam spec'd by the engineer). Carefully remove each stud so as not to damage the plaster crown. Grind off the toenails sticking down from the top plate where the studs used to be. Install beam under plate and install support posts (making sure the latter will land on the steel beam in the basement ceiling). Remove temporary support walls, complete finishing, you're done. Not sure why the first few responders said saving the crown was impossible; like I said, we've done this a bunch of times as described here. You need to confine your search to full overlay if that's the look you're going for. (Again, full overlay is by far the most popular style, and is virtually universal in Europe. All IKEA kitchens, for example, are full overlay, and the gaps around their doors are around 1/8'). **Q: Interior door replacement inputs please** *(in Bathrooms)* I'm planning to replace all bath and bedroom interior doors to quality solid core with hardwood frame or full hardwood doors. My other options from this company are JELD-WEN, EL&EL, Kelleher, TrustLite. Looking for input as I ahve no experience in this area. A: Go with a Masonite solid core door.
