The building was built in 1981, and everything in the condo was original. I picked their bid, the highest of three, to ensure quality work. In my opinion, the workers that were assigned the job were not skilled at finish work and they did not have tools to do a quality job. They borrowed my claw hammer and opened a can of paint with it. They used what looked like a $0.47 Harbor Freight paint brush to trim and their orange peel on the drywall matched poorly. > > The contractor assured me they could complete the work in five days. On the sixth day, they worked a couple of hours and said they couldn't come back until the next day. I repainted the trim on the sixth day and had to beg them to return and help me move the bed back against the wall. > > I asked the the contractor how this job compared to the one in their photos and he replied "it looks like a rushed job". It wasn't a rushed job. They took eight days to start the job after the permit was issued. They had six days working in the condo and wanted more. A drywall finisher would have done the job correctly the first time, and a professional painter would have done the job correctly the first time also. I didn't pay $43.00 per square foot to hear that this was a rush job and how can they make it right. **Comment from Growing City Corp.:** > Unfortunately, we took on this small, intricate job as a favor to a great past customer. We disclosed since the first day that we would need extra time during busy season to complete the work, and those terms were accepted. Since we were rushed from the beginning, and were demanded to be there at the customer's discretion, we were unable to meet those demands and make Charles happy. As always, we've extended our willingness to go back and make our work 100%, but were not given the opportunity to do so. Their estimate was detailed and very fair. They even took down my plantation shutters, which were in every room and reinstalled them. When I got the original estimate, I did not know if they could take down the shutters and reinstall them. Other companies who gave me an estimate said I would have to do that with someone else, or there would be an extra charge. Growing City's estimate, which came in less then other suppliers, did not include the shutters, but Growing City said they would do the shutters without an extra charge. The work was excellent.
