> My new go-to flooring contractor! Laura and her team do amazing work, and when things happen — because things do happen — they go the extra mile to make sure the client is happy, which is the hallmark of a good company and good people, and it makes me look good, too! Highly recommend.

> Daniels Floors did an awesome job in sanding, finishing and polying my hardwood floors! Very professional and highly recommended! Beautiful job on the hardwood floors!
>
> They also supported me in writing letters regarding a previous company who completely damaged my floors and did a very sloppy job on the staining and poly.

> One of the few contractors that I have had the actual PLEASURE to do business with! They were always in contact and I was never left guessing what to expect. Even months after the installation when I had questions, they were kind enough to spend time educating me and give me advice on upkeep, etc. As a tip to hardwood first-timers: if you are getting hardwood installed in the kitchen; remove all dishes and appliances and put them elsewhere in the house. Even though all was covered with plastic sheeting, there's just no way to keep all the dust out of the cabinets. That was my own rookie mistake though. I definitely recommend Daniel's Floors.

> Wow, what a happy customer I am! Based on the reviews I read in Houzz, about Daniels Floors, I chose to have them install new wood floors in a house we purchased (in Sept 2016). Laura Anzures was fantastic to work with - came to the house quickly, provided a clear and complete estimate, and scheduled the work. Daniel and his team have provided us with a beautiful setting and their quick and complete work enabled us to move in sooner than we expected. In addition, they did a lot of little "extras" at no charge (cleaned up scuffed areas, stained areas that were dull, etc). One thing we were really happy we did was to have custom-made wood heat registers replace the old metal ones. They match our floors wonderfully and look fantastic - spend the extra $ and get them!! When we need more work done, I will definitely call them. Many thanks to Laura, Daniel, Santos, Ricardo, and the rest of the team!

> Easy to work with. They showed up on time, started working on the floor immediately, did what they were supposed to do and left. Nice costumer service. Easy to deal with. No hassle!
> We are very happy with our new shiny floors!!

> Great job! Seriously. I used Daniels floors for a clients house. I recommend them and they are nice and professional. They used a dustless system for minimal dust. I only had a few minor issues with the overall flooring part of the project but I would use them again and again. With Daniels, I know what service I am getting and what price I am paying. No surprises or pop ups. After they finished the floors, the whole house look new.

**Comment from Daniels Floors:**

> Thanks so much for selecting us! It was an absolute pleasure working with you. We appreciate the feedback.

> If there is anything close to "Perfect" you will find it with Daniels Flooring. I had a major project for installation of wood flooring. This included living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom, powder room and hallway connecting all. I am more than satisfied. As with any project you may expect glitches, any glitches that came up through the project we were able to work through them satisfactorily. Daniels Flooring was readily available after the completion of the project returning for minor adjustments. I appreciate their professionalism attention to detail and cleanliness. I would absolutely highly recommend them to anyone and would use them for future projects. Their professional skill became more and more evident as the project drew to a close.

> We recently had every floor in our~3100 SF home replaced --except our bathrooms and kitchen. This required every piece of furniture to be moved several times. This could have been entirely chaotic, but, it was not, because it was done with well-thought out coordination and utmost professionalism.
> Daniel’s Floors is a husband and wife owned company. They are knowledgeable, professional, deliver what they promise and, in addition, they are great people. Laura typically is the one who meets to discuss what the clients wants, provides professional information about the various options, offers suggestions if asked. She is also the one who measures and provides the estimate. It did not take me long to recognize that she knows what she is talking about- much more so than others I had met with for estimates.
> Daniel’s Floors delivered as promised. They completed the job within the estimated time frame, they cleaned up every day and made sure we always had a pathway to still live and function in our home.
> Our floors are beautiful—we love, love, love them. I cannot say enough good things about Daniel, Laura and the others who worked with them to give us our gorgeous floors.
> If you want professionals who work with you and give you precisely what you want, Daniel’s Floors is the company to use

**Comment from Daniels Floors:**

> This was a great project. We installed UA FLoors Leathered Walnut http://www.uafloors.com/df/d5019-lw.html in this elegant Buckhead Penthouse. This is one of my favorite floors. The walnut grain is incredibly beautiful. Most people make the safe choice, and install Oak, which is pretty common. This client took a chance and purchased flooring that looks like art. I am posting photos, but I am not a professional photographer. The photos don't really show the richness of the flooring. These clients were a pleasure to work with. We appreciate the review!

> I rented a floor machine from a big box store and tried to sand and stain appx 300 sq feet of 3/4 inch hardwood floors. It did not turn out so well. I then got estimates from 3 Hardwood Floor installers, Daniels Floors being one of them, to obtain the best pricing, quality and wk provided for quoted price. I researched all 3 companies online and looked at photo's of other jobs done for local homeowners. Laura at Daniels floors was on time for our appointment. Only 1 of the other 2 quotes was on time. She amazed me with her knowledge of hardwood floors, stains and even the replacement of missing boards that I had. She also was polite and seemed like she appreciated me allowing her an opportunity to get my business. Laura's quote was not the lowest but was hundred's of dollars lower than my highest quote. I choose Daniels Floors due to the overall value and was very, very happy when the job was completed. My Floors looked beautiful...better than my expectations...I would recommend them to anyone with confidence.

**Comment from Daniels Floors:**

> Thank you so much for posting such a wonderful review! We have a lot of competition out there. We make every effort to stay current on all of the industry standards, best products and latest technology. We are usually the mid-priced estimate when people get three estimates. Large companies with a lot of overhead charge more. Independent guys with worn out equipment, cheap labor and no insurance can charge less than us. We aim to provide the best value. You were a pleasure to work with. The new hardwoods really complete your newly remodeled kitchen.

**★★★★★ — mark\_strmac, Dec. 2015**

> Daniels Floors are real professionals. They were on-time, hard-working, clean, and did an awesome job refinishing out hardword floors and buillding us a new stairway. Professional, courtious and knowledgeable in their craft. The pricing was very fair and the service provides was great. Laura is excellent to deal with and I would recommend them to anyone who asked for a floor company. Thanks Daniel, Laura and all the crew. It was a pleasure working with you!

**Comment from Daniels Floors:**

> We are glad you selected Daniels Floors for your flooring project. We enjoyed working with you as well! We appreciate the review. We are eligible for Best of Houzz 2015 and depend on the reviews to reach that goal.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Kitchen Upgrades?? What would you do?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi all,

I've posted in here a few times with some different ideas and everyone has been so helpful to point out some issues I'm creating with certain designs with what I was looking at doing. This is our first home and would be my first 'larger' remodel decision.

I was originally looking at a layout change but the people here were helpful in pointing out some issues I would run into with that. Obviously it's easiest to move sink to center island and keep everything else but then stove would be in main walkway, etc.

We are planning to be in the home about 2-4 more years- so not long enough to spend 40k on our dream kitchen (and why would we when we are looking to move). Home value of ours and neighboring homes is about 280k. I would call this an entry level home price range for our area.

With this said, I am interested in opinions on what you would do to update this kitchen with the short amount of time we plan to stay.

It seems people on here have a lot of experience and I value your opinions. Thank you for your help and patience.

A: Knock out that peninsula and put in an island. Either lighten up your floors, or your cabinets or both. Having dark flooring and dark cabinets feels too heavy. Obviously, you will need new lighting. The trend now is gray, gray and more gray. I am almost sick of it. Be original. Try other cool colors like blues and greens. If you live in the Metro Atlanta Area, call us for a consultation of the flooring.

**Q: What kind of chair mat for new LVP? Or do I really need one?** *(in Flooring)*

I have a built in desk in my kitchen that gets tons of use. I've had a couple of the estimators tell me that I will need to put a chair mat under my rolling desk chair after the new LVT is installed. It's Armstrong Vivero, and pretty tough stuff. I have thoroughly searched the product warranty and they state "DO NOT USE ROLLING CASTERS". (Personally I think this is nuts, I've had sheet vinyl with a rolling chair in place for at least 10 years - I can't imagine that the LVT would not hold up better.) But I'm not going to toss my very expensive chair - that isn't happening.

When I search online, many sites say that a "felt backed" hard mat should be used under a rolling chair on LVP. And honestly, I have searched for such a product, and found nothing. Only the standard hard-surface mats, or the flexible rolled mats. Anyone have a rolling chair on their LVT, with no mat under it? Have you had any issues? My floor is a glue-down plank - not a floating one, so it does not move at all.

A: The difference between the old vinyl you had and the new LVT is the LVT is thicker with a core. So, the wheels can make impressions or indentations. You may use a hard surface mat. Here are a couple of examples. You may not have any issues if you don't use a mat, but why take the chance? Protect that flooring investment! (note: the flooring in the photos is not LVT)

**Q: Hardwood floor decision. White oak?** *(in Flooring)*

We are making a decison on our remodel floors and having trouble finding a wood we love. I absolutely love the look of white oak, specifically the European white oak, but am worried about the Janka rating. I believe it is about 1100-1300. We have two dogs and a child so need something that will
withstand them. I am looking only at solid woods, not engineered. Anyone know of a harder wood that can achieve this look?

A: Check out a product we sell called, "Lindura" It is an engineered floor. The veneer is infused with wood powder. It is moisture resistant, scratch resistant and incredibly durable. We sell this in our showroom.
Lindura

If this is not available in your area, I would consider a well made white oak that is pre-finished. A factory applied finish is going to be much more durable than a polyruethane finish applied on site. You may want to consider a matte finish and some texture in your floor as opposed to a smooth, shiny surface, which shows every scratch. White Oak is a good choice. Hickory is also an option.

**Q: Recommend hardwood which works well with cherry kitchen cabinets** *(in Home Decorating)*

We are looking to replace the current hardwood floor (bruce gunstock red oak) damaged by water leak with new flooring. Looking for a change so want to pick a different color of hardwood. We have cherry cabinets in our kitchen and the stairs to the upper level are in bruce gunstock.

Any recommendations for a darker wood floor which would work well with the kitchen cabinets and which could maybe either work with the stairs or the stairs can be stained to match the color of the new floor.

Thank you!

A: We install a lot of Natural Red Oak flooring in homes with Cherry cabinets. I think the Gunstock flooring is too much red. You need some contrast. You will need to hire someone to refinish the stair treads. Most stair treads are red oak, so matching the floor should be easy peasy.

**Q: Will Vinyl planking over hardwood seal dog smell** *(in Flooring)*

Hello, our house has about 250 sq ft of carpet and 400 of finished builder grade hardwood on the main floor. There is a faint dog smell from the previous owners 2 small dogs and we want to get rid of it as well as put in new flooring. I would like to rip out the carpet, lay a subfloor and make it level with the hardwood then lay vin planking with cork backing over the new subfloor and old hardwood. My concern is the smell is in the hardwood and will still be present. we hope it’s mostly the carpet and pulling it out will make a big differ Any advice or experience here?

A: Try Black Jack underlayment. That will seal in anything.

**Q: Replacing floor in open floor plan, help please!** *(in Polls)*

I need help choosing flooring for my kitchen/family room. It will also go down a hallway which is open to the entry, dining and living rooms. I want something that looks good with the blue gray pearl granite counter and the cupboards which go from the kitchen into the family room. I like contemporary clean lines so I don’t want to create too much pattern plus it needs to flow with the rest of the house and look good next to the fireplace. I’m open to all flooring and all suggestions.
Thank-you!

A: Whitish or black or grey with a matte finish, like Rubio Monocoat. The "Limed" look would be great. That is where the grain is white and the rest of the wood is natural. You can extend your current flooring and finish it to get the look you want. No need to replace good flooring.
