I have always designed.  I thought everybody did. As a kid growing up in the country, I can remember wanting a sidewalk and neighbors.  Who wanted to learn to ride a bike on a gravel driveway?  And who wanted to be so isolated from your friends?

 But that's the way it was. So I made up for what I didn't have by using my imagination.  My brothers and I would build roads in the sandbox for all the army trucks to navigate.  Snow drifts would get tunneled into, and we would carve out snow "furniture" for the room we had just created. The autumn leaves provided the construction material necessary for my makeshift floor plan.  In other words, I took what I found and made the most of it.

## Community Q&A

**Q: what kind of chairs are those? Where are they from** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Kathy, the chairs pictured here were purchased at Edmond Furniture Gallery in Edmond, Oklahoma.  I don't recall the manufacturer's name.  They were purchased about 18 months ago for a client of mine.  They were chosen for their style and their comfort factor.  And they were the perfect accent to this bedroom redo.

**Q: Powder room artwork help!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I need some kind of artwork over the toilet in my powder room. I want it to tie in the dark walls and the brushed brass and marbel floors. I like a mix of traditional and modern... but feel like the artwork will have a huge impact. And not sure what shape art because of the tall rectangular mirror. Thanks!!

A: Google Karen Musmeci, Artist, and view the images.  The one pictured here is monochromatic but it is framed rather dramatically.  She has many delightful pieces that are very colorful.

**Q: Pillow Covers?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love the pillow covers. Can you recall the source for those? Thanks in advance.

A: The pillow covers were purchased at Bed, Bath & Beyond several years ago.  The brand name is:  kas, australia.  You might want to do a Google search to see if they are still available.  This set is in the pink/gray color on a white background.  It also came in a brown/gray colorway.

**Q: What brand are the shower fixtures/where can i purchase?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: This is a Rohl faucet.  A google search will bring up a distributor in your area, or you may be able to purchase this directly from an internet source.  When I did this project, they were only sold through their distributors.

What color stain is this vanity?

A: At the time this vanity was built, I was able to find the most awesome painter who did the best custom work ever.  I would tell him what I wanted, and he came up with a finish that was always better than what I could imagine.  I believe this finish is created by sealing, painting, and staining, and then varnishing. There was actual "depth" in all that he did.   He worked his magic in a way that I have never seen duplicated by any other painter.
