Since then, scarcely a day has passed that we haven't given thought to the attractiveness and functionality of design and quality of construction of the home that Stephen Tobey and his employees and sub-contractors built for us. We particularly appreciated his willingness to collaborate with us in customising the design so as to achieve an modern "Craftsman" look with high flat ceilings and plenty of natural light. It was a long-time desire of ours to live in a brick and stone-clad house and here again, with their proposed design colours and execution, Stephen and his masons absolutely delighted us. What's more, the Tobey-built homes around us are equally attractive and combine to form the most visually appealing neighbourhood in which we have ever lived. Stephen's mechanical engineering background and extensive building experience including a long-time concern with energy efficiency are evident in the economical and trouble-free performance of the house's mechanical systems. Fit and finish approach perfection - we have yet to identify a flaw or deficiency of any significance. During construction and since, as we have observed the rise of other Tobey homes around us, we have conversed with many of the on-site tradesmen and other capable people involved. Invariably, they have been friendly, from the local area, dedicated to quality, and proud of their work. They have earned our respect for their commitment, admiration of their talent, and appreciation for the care they apply to the creation of a built environment that will last and please its residents for generations to come. The end result has exceeded our expections as the build quality of the house and the building experience with Stephen and his staff have been truly outstanding. I was aware of Stephen and Gordon Tobey's reputation as the best builder in the valley, so I convinced my wife to dispense with the idea of running around getting multiple quotes for this project and contacted Stephen right away. He appeared on our property that day and was obviously impressed with what we had lost and was quite excited with the prospect of doing this project which required reproducing a historic building but to modern standards. We were not disappointed as the photos of our home ( Goodfellow property) on this website can attest. Aside from being meticulous in all aspects of this build, we were especially impressed with the way that Stephen handled every detail right from his office. Other than light fixtures, we were able to pick out everything including colours, flooring, hardware, doors, windows on and on and on right from the comfort of his model home/ office. All of the leg work normally associated with picking out and deciding on these many features was eliminated due to his vast selection of samples on hand and his expertise in knowing what would look good and where. After we moved in any problem was addressed by himself immediately, and all it would take is an email from us. Anytime I called, someone jumped !
