Benjamin Moore - Whisper Violet - 2070-70 **Q: Painting walls** *(in Design Dilemma)* At the moment I have painted my walls with a Benjamin Moore "corn silk". This is for the living room,dining room,hallway which are basically an open space with the exception of a wall separating hallway from dining room. I want to paint the inside doors a brown color. Is this too much and do I have to paint the door frames brown as well or can I paint them white? A: Keep it simple and go with white doors. **Q: The chaise we bought is too small** *(in Design Dilemma)* We purchased a 98" w x 66" l reversible chaise for our living room/family room in our two bedroom apartment. We were really sold on the chaise because we had a too-small sofa for two years which didn't allow us to both relax/get comfortable at the same time. I also hadn't read any forums yet :) We had a very nice sectional picked out but realized 120" was too big for the 160" wall and open space because it would run into our kitchen table and we couldn't open the patio door. I also wanted to be able to rearrange in the future, and I wanted to play up the spacious room instead of overfilling it. My dilemma is: return the chaise and eat the cost (we pay delivery, restocking/15%, and have to buy the new sofa at the same place due to budget limitations) or fill up the space creatively with end tables, rug, chair, ottoman. I am a complete novice in home design/decor (and to be honest, I don't really enjoy it). I've read some threads and see that no one has our specific issue of buying a too small sofa. The room is 160" x 160" but open to the kitchen. When we had measured, we thought the sweet spot for couches would be 96" - 108". Apparently we were wrong. We appreciate any tips you can give since we have a lot to learn! It will be pretty obvious from the photos that we are starting out/I have no decorative bone in my body ;) plus we just moved in, so thanks for your understanding that it is a new development. Things to consider: -We have three leaning bookshelves from Crate and Barrel that we could potentially put along the back wall, but I realize that will kind of crowd the space… -I like ottomans more than coffee tables, but there is no matching ottoman in the set (probably because the chaise is so small) -the coffee table in the photo is NOT staying. Just using for pragmatic purposes and measuring right now. -I am interested in knowing if it is better to get a rug that covers most of the floor (i.e., the chaise is on the entire rug) or just a smaller area rug that goes in front of the couch -we have literally no decoration theme here yet. We feel we are limited a bit by the fireplace (I've posted a photo of the style for reference) and encouraged to go the more traditional route. -we actually like the style of the sofa and think it's comfortable, so if we can make it work, we'd like to Thank you! A: You really don't have alot of width in the room so add a fabulous area carpet and end tables & accessories.
