We are about to close on this house and the kitchen is great, but outdated... I don’t have a floor plan yet but here are some pictures. Any ideas for inspiration? There are so many things I absolutely love about the kitchen. I’m serious! The windows, the storage, etc. We plan to live with it a bit before renovations but I’m compiling ideas so I’d love the input from you guys. You always have such good ideas! I’ve never designed or renovated a kitchen and I’d love to put my stamp on it and really make it what we need. PS: what you can’t see in the pictures is a kitchen desk and a (gulp) wet bar. So, yeah... A: You should consider removing the see-thru cabinet and micro-wave/shelf near the stove (there seems to be plenty of cabinet space already), and use the area instead to hang pots/pans/kitchen utensils - having that stuff close at hand and accessible helps inspire cooking at home :) **Q: what size picture for the space** *(in Home Decorating)* The space above my taupe couch is 53" down, and the couch is 85" long. Kind regards, BananaRoad Posters **Q: What color front door?** *(in Paint)* We're trying to sell this house. My realtor suggested we paint the door red, but I feel like it doesn't fit with the color of the house and looks out of place. We're trying to make as cost-effective changes as possible, so I don't think replacing the doors will work. The siding is a light blueish gray with white shutters and trim. Does this red work or should we try a different color? A: The current red door does serve as a focal point, drawing the eye to a spot where one can take-in the entirety of the house (a definite plus if you're trying to sell). Have you considered matching the 2 white garage doors with the red front door? This might be a budget-friendly way to tie everything together and make the front door seem less stark. Also, painting the shutters on the first and second floors to match could be another possibility. (Although, using the red may be a bit much.) **Q: Basement Design Dilemma** *(in Design Dilemma)* Any suggestions on how to brighten up this space, and make it more “cozy?” A: The brick walls are a hindrance to the coziness of the space, in my opinion. Depending on your budget, you may want to consider breaking up the monotony by adding trim or wainscotting along the lower half the walls. Also, that Batman Joker poster is pretty cool!
