**Q: Converting detached Garage into Studio in Union City , NJ** *(in Garages/Workshops)*

Hi.  We have a home with a detached garage that we want to convert into a studio. The home is a 2 family, and we would like to have the studio as part of the first floor unit. Would we need the detached garage to somehow be attached to the house? or can we just convert and have it as a detached bonus room for first floor unit?

A: If you've not done so already, consult with Union City (city hall/zoning offc) for requirements.  There are usually strict compliance issues with living spaces.

**Q: NJ Beach home front door** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Should I paint or refinish and in what color?

A: Just as a mention, you should know that stained wood doors, such as yours, are beautiful, yet somewhat difficult to repair if they ever incur deep scratches, perhaps from moving in/out, or as a main entry have alot of equipment or sports gear coming and going.  Painted doors can be spot sanded, filled if needed and always given a fresh coat.   Good luck.

A: This is an interesting application... Lights should be OFF for tv/movie viewing to create best contrast and reduce glare and eye fatigue.

**Q: Donation removal in Summit, NJ** *(in Before & After)*

Our "hunks" can be creative when it comes to getting the job done. It's all about teamwork!

A: Kudos to the Hunks!  (Guessing that is the same way it may have come in... Beware of big, comfy, oversized furniture.)  The Habitat (for Humanity) ReStore in Randolf NJ will also pick up furniture in respectable condition as a donation.  The pick up is at no charge to you.   Phone to schedule and coordinate about 2-3 weeks in advance.   They can be reached at 973-366-3358.

**Q: Shipping** *(in Product Questions)*

Hi, how quickly could you ship 60 sq ft of these tiles to Cherry Hill, NJ 08003?

A: Not sure who this is addressed to re: shipping.  be sure to allow overage for cutting, off-color pieces and slight damage.  If your room needs 60 sq ft to cover the floor area (only?) then order 65-68.  They may also be packed in sheets of ten, which then should go 70.  I've used variations of this in several jobs, there are always a cpl odd pieces in color; you'll be glad you have a few extra sheets to work with and pull from.

**Q: Proposal for fireplace** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I just received a quote for a fireplace from a well respected carpenter that does high quality work in NJ.  Included a picture,  curious what people think this should cost. Everything will be in maple that will all be sprayed white in his shop.   The waincoting will be done on top of wood and the storage to the right of the fireplace will be lined in tile for holding wood. To the left of the fireplace will be a sliding door he will build and frame with matching panel designs.  The wall is 20 feet long and the ceilings are 8 feet high.

A: Totally agree with Promethean on all points!   Real wood is called for with this type of work.
