> We had our house remodeled and added a new Barthroom. We were looking for well made bathroom cabinets. We knew what brand we were looking for, so we started looking for a company in our area that sold Bertch Cabinets. That’s when we found Houston Remodeling. We contacted Tim Lasater, and he was very patient with us as we decided what to purchase. Tim came out to our house and took measurements and helped with the decisions we had to make on certain issues. When the cabinets came in, unfornatlly we weren’t ready for delivery. Tim was kind enough to store our cabinets until we were ready for them. When we called, he brought them out himself and installed them. Our new bathroom looks great. We are very pleased and thankful that we found Tim and Houston Remodeling.

**★★★★★ — Drew, Nov. 2018**

> Tim did a fantastic job on our cabinets. My wife and I couldn’t be happier with the way they turned out.
>
> I would recommend Tim to anyone who is looking for cabinets. He is extremely easy to reach & shows up exactly when he says he is going to.
>
> Tim was invaluable during the design phase of our project, providing us with his recommendations & feedback to our ideas. He made multiple 3D renderings of our future cabinets, which was very helpful in visualizing the layout & making a decision. The cabinets arrived on time & installation happened without any hitches.
>
> If you are looking for Kraftmaid cabinets, Tim is the guy you want in the Houston area. He was able to beat Home Depot’s prices, and provide significantly more expertise throughout the process.

**★★★★★ — Brandy Pizzano, Oct. 2018**

> I was supersized and amazed by the design team led by Tim Lassiter He presented options and advice that were tasteful and elegant. We now have a wonderful kitchen that exceeded our expectations.Cabinets and appliances are beyond what we expected on our budget. We now spend more time in our kitchen than ever before.
> Skilled sub contractors and Tim made our family's kitchen the place to be.
> My friends are jealous and we gladly referred Houston Remodeling to our friends.

**★★★★★ — Pamela Mouton, Oct. 2018**

> Tim and his crew did a great job for our remodeling project. Great people to work with, creative and knowledgeable. We were very satisfied, we have used them on other projects. We highly recommend Houston Remodeling.

**★★★★★ — HU-418827574, Oct. 2018**

> Tim did a minor remodel and repainting in my home. He was involved with all stages of the remodel and he worked with/supervised the sub contractors to insure the quality of work being done was up to his high standards. His experience and knowledge came in handy to help with all aspects of this project, from designs to color choice. The cabinets I purchased from him was high quality and the install and fitment was perfect. Houston Remodeing (Tim) will be the contractor for my next project.

**★★★★★ — HU-391443443, Oct. 2018**

> I have worked on several projects with Houston Remodeling. They have done wonderful cabinet designs and installs for several of my clients. Look forward to working with Tim Lassiter again.

**★★★★★ — Josh Jones, Aug. 2018**

> We used Houston Remodeling to redo our kitchen. At first, we only had ideas on what we wanted, but Tim helped us work through the ideas to help us put together a beautiful kitchen - even going as far to meet us at the stone company multiple time to finally pick out our counter tops. We have been loving our kitchen since the day we finished. We are now looking into bathroom renovations, and Tim will be the first person we call.

**★★★★★ — Capmire Projects, July 2018**

> I have worked with Tim for quite some time now. He has such a wealth of knowledge and experience. His work is truly top notch and I am proud to have met him on a Harvey project, and have been working with HR on several joint projects together ever since. HR is one of the best in town, and Tim has been invaluable to myself and more importantly, to my clients. You wont be disappointed, he is a one stop shop for your larger renovation projects. You never know, we may team up for your project! I definitely recommend Houston Remodeling.
> Also, he is the top provider in quality cabinets in Houston and surrounding areas. Definitely dont buy your cabinets anywhere else, but from Houstoncabinets.com (same company). They are hands down the best and you would be throwing your money away using anyone else. Thanks Tim for everything!

**★★★★★ — Alaina Kurz, Sept. 2017**

> Houston Remodeling designed and remodeled our kitchen in 2010. From the start the service was professional and prompt, helping our ideas go from dreams to reality. The completion was 2 weeks earlier than the original estimate which was an added bonus. We are once again hiring Houston Remodeling to make the repairs to our home after Hurricane Harvey and know that the work will be high quality work. We highly recommend Houston Remodeling.

**Comment from Houston Remodeling:**

> Alaina, thank you for the terrific review. Looking forward to working with you again.
> Tim Lassiter

**★★★★★ — Eric Lipper, Nov. 2016**

> I have used Tim twice. The first time was an addition to my master bedroom. The second time was to remove a post in the middle of my garage and install a new beam to span the width of the garage. Both projects were difficult. Notwithstanding the difficulty, Tim was an excellent contractor and I should know because I can do all of the construction tasks myself. His work was done carefully, the quality was excellent and when he got done there was no punch list. The best thing about Tim is that he was honest about everything that he did from bidding the work to saying when his crews would (and would not be) working. I would definitely use Tim agin.

**Comment from Houston Remodeling:**

> Hi Eric, thank you for the review.
> See you on the next project.
> Tim Lassiter

**★★★★★ — ryanmckenney, Sept. 2015**

> Tim, at Houston Remodeling, has been a fantastic partner in our multi-staged whole home remodeling project. We met Tim when we first moved to Houston to look for a house (expecting to remodel). He was fantastically helpful as he went with us to homes we were considering to assess the integrity of the overall structure, extent of remodel required and general thoughts about what could and should be done to achieve our goals. After looking at countless homes, we made a decision and went right to work.
>
> Tim’s ability to provide design/build services saved us time and money, and had the added advantage of knowing more directly the costs of various design or renovation options. Tim’s background as a trim carpenter was extremely beneficial in the way he was able to manage and guide his subs during the construction process. The trim carpenter in him provided the critical eye and attention to detail that was always appreciated. Additionally, having a GC that has actually done (and done quite well) the detailed trim work helps him to know and demand great work from his subs.
>
> We started our project in the summer of 2009 and finished the total remodel in the first part of 2010. We have since worked with Tim on a number of other, smaller projects and have always been thrilled with the outcome.
>
> Thanks, Tim!
> Ryan and Sarah

**Comment from Houston Remodeling:**

> Sarah & Ryan, thank you for taking the time to post this terrific review. Very much appreciated. See you soon.

**★★★★ — John Pike, Aug. 2015**

> I can not thank Houston Remodeling enough for the work they had completed. I am in the process of selling my home and Tim went above and beyond to secure a painter in an extremely short time period. They had even completed the project earlier then initially proposed. I highly recommend Houston Remodeling for not only efficiency but also for the quality of work performed.

**Comment from Houston Remodeling:**

> John, thank you for taking the time out to post a nice review. It was a pleasure working with you. Best of luck in your journeys ahead.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Is this a bad tile job?** *(in Home Disasters)*

Hello,
We had our kitchen remodelled. I left with our kids while my partner supervised the work. I returned two weeks after the subway tile had been put in. At the time it looked like a good job, but the more I look at it under different overhead lighting or from an angle, the more I'm not sure.
Thoughts? Am I being to picky? I imagine at this point there's nothing I can do about it?
Thanks!

A: Ceramic subway tiles require a flat surface and low notch trowel for the setting material, usually 3/16" or 1/4" v-notch or square notch to prevent shadowing. The adhesive will recommend the notch size and style. If the notch is too deep the setting material is too thick and the tile setter can't control the depth the tile is set at press-in. \*This could be one issue with your tile. I suspect the trowel notch was too deep.

Most ceramic has built in notches and or a bevel to make all grout lines consistence in size and straight runs. When the tiles are butted together (no spaces required) or use a 1/16" spacer. \*Your installer used no spacers and they could have cleaned the grout out better to make lines the same size.

My best guess why your tile is shadowing from overhead lighting is due to the subsurface was old and not super flat. Your backsplash isn't that bad. When we start a back-splash we either float out the subsurface to create a super flat surface or replace with new drywall and float flat before setting the tile. Some of the tiles can easily be removed and replaced to fix some of the issues that are bothering you. Call them back for some warranty work.

**Q: Would this sink logo bug you?** *(in Kitchens)*

It’s more noticeable in person, but this Kohler sink logo is pretty crooked. And it’s located prominently so that you easily see it every time you glance at the sink. What do you think, would it bug you? Worth exchanging?

A: Opts to exchange sink due to a crooked logo Kohler offered to replace. SMH

**Q: help with color of cabinet repainting** *(in Remodeling)*

Hello Houzz community,

I’m a new member :)

My grandma asked me to repaint her oak cabinets. She plans to sell the house and move into a retirement home.

3 years ago she got a contractor to change the flooring, countertop and backsplash.

What color of cabinets will compliment the existing look?

She’s considering an off white to brighten the kitchen as there’s only one small window. The off white might patch the whites in backsplash.

Please share your advice. Thank you!

A: Cabinets are oak. You can paint them any color you choose but I would use a straight white from Sherwin Williams for resale. We use ProClassic Interior Waterbased Acrylic-Alkyd in Satin sheen finish. A shinier finish will show more of the grain in the oak and imperfections. In the past, everyone used oil based paints for cabinets and trim but over time, oil based paint will yellow. The Hybrid won't and the added Alkyd adds durability that latex paint cannot offer. Also, Hybrid has much less paint buildup so details remain sharp and it has lower VOC and drys much faster.

For primer, we use Sherwin-Williams Premium Wall & Wood primer to get a good bond. This primer is excellent for fine finish painting and its very easy to sand, drys fast and offers the best base coat finish for the tops coats.

Steps are:
1\. Remove handles.

2\. Lightly sand the doors, boxes and drawers existing clear coat finish using 220 grit to help with primer bonding.

3\. Spray one coat of primer.

4\. Fill handle holes and repair all chipped, dented and damaged areas with a sandable wood primer such as Elmer's wood putty. Apply caulking where needed.

5\. Spray another coat of primer and sand cabinets again with 220 grit paper.

6\. If needed, putty additional damages areas on cabinets and spot prime and sand.

7\. Remove all dust from kitchen area and cabinets.

8\. Spray two or three tops coats of finish coat paint, Pro Classic.

9\. Purchase new cabinet handles and mount in the corner of the doors and not the center as before.

You may leave the doors hanging when you paint or remove them. Each project is different, you decide based on your application. Drawers need to be removed, caulked and puddied like the doors and boxes. Tape the drawer glides unless you plan to replace them. Don't use a brush, spray the paint.

It's a lot of work, I would hire a professional.

**Q: what finish is the hardware... thanks** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Love your work !!!

**Q: Where is the mirror from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Drop-dead Gorgeous!! Bravo !!

**Q: what paint color and manufacturer?** *(in Photo Questions)*

what is the paint color and manufacturer?

A: That color is spot on with Olympic Paint's - Oyster. Available at Lowes.
