> We ordered handrails and paid for them to assemble them. When they arrived, they are crooked and don't match. Spencer will not correct this and keeps saying, "NO GUARANTEES AND NO REFUNDS!" Spencer is as crooked and his handrails!

**Comment from WoodStairs:**

> Hello Anna,
> First and foremost our customers are extremely important to us and we do our best to help resolve any issues. In your case, we tried on numerous occasions to help you. There was nothing wrong with the stair parts that were custom made for your job and shipped to you. The problem is with the installation. We provide stair parts nationwide to be installed on site by professionals, or homeowners if they have the knowledge and skill to do so.
> I'm sorry that your project didn't work out for you. I've tried to reach you multiple times on your cell phone and your home phone, but to no avail. Here is exactly what happened; after we shipped your order, you called me asking how to put your fittings together. I explained the hardware is in the boxes and I can send you the diagram on how to attach them. You said it was too complicated to figure out and asked us 3 times to connect them for you. I declined and told you to hire a professional installer, stating that your fittings need to be cut and custom fit to your stair case by your installer. We are in a different state and whoever is on your job-site needs to calculate the pitch of your staircase and cut the parts accordingly. You said they are already perfect and they didn't need to be cut, just connected. You sent me the first photo (Attached) showing how you wanted them connected. I told you very clearly that I would only connect them for you if you already approve of how they are going to be connected, and were not expecting us to custom cut the stair parts. If they needed to be cut then your installer/husband would have to cut them prior to shipping them back to us for fitting. We also discussed the fact that if you have us connect them together and they are wrong for your home that there was no warranty and I couldn't remake them for free. I only agreed to do the work because you agreed you were responsible for making sure the parts were measured and cut correctly, and exactly what you wanted, before shipping them back. We do not typically assist with pre-installing parts, but were just trying to help you out. After you shipped the parts back to me, I still didn't feel comfortable without putting my concerns in writing. I sent you a text with my disclaimer to make sure that I was clear on our phone call (See 2nd Attachment). I still don't understand how I could have been more clear, the parts were in your possession, and needed to be cut/fit for your project prior to sending the parts for us to join together. And, if you chose to have us assemble them and it did not fit once you got them on site then I wouldn't be able to take the products back. If you were not comfortable with having them custom cut/fit and then shipping them to us to please not send them back, as I didn't want it to be wrong. We connected them exactly like your photo and how you asked, and now you're upset.
> Your husband called me on 1/13 and he needed additional help with his installation. I didn't know it was him at first because he gave me a fake name but I spent almost an hour walking through the install on your home. I told him I knew who it was and I was happy to help. I asked him if he was upset with us and he said no, the products were to be installed 5' apart and no one would ever notice, and I told him to call me anytime if he needed more assistance. Call me back if you would like to work this situation out. Thank You.

> Woodstairs.com was great to work with for our new staircase. We ordered online but need to make a few changes and called the customer service line for assistance and they were great on the phone and help me get the order correct. I will use them again in the future, great products and customer service.

> I had a great experience with Wood Stairs. Spencer was very helpful and knowledgeable. They have great prices and don't try to upsell you. I couldn't be happier. I'll upload photos once the project is finished.

> I work for a custom stair company and we were having difficulty finding a product from one of our usual vendors. After many phone calls, it looked like it was going to take 3-6 weeks to get the balusters made. But then we found Wood Stairs. Spencer called us back within the time frame he promised. He gave us a very reasonable quote for the balusters. He also had them turned and delivered within the 5 days he promised. Wood Stairs also followed up with us a few days after delivery to make sure everything arrived as expected. Wood Stairs has exceeded our expectations by going above and beyond to take care of us.

> I had an excellent experience with this company. Great service (very friendly and helpful), lowest prices I found, and on-point technical advise. I could not be happier!

**Comment from WoodStairs:**

> Thanks Lee! Glad we could help you on your stair project!

> I purchased a home and the staircase was the first thing that needed to go. I knew I wanted to do it in America Walnut. After shopping around locally, I was blown away at the prices they wanted to charge. I went online and contacted several companies. From the moment I contacted woodstairs.com, they were professional and very helpful. Woody knew the products that he offered and was wonderful to work with. Their prices could not be beat! When I received the order, it was packaged extremely well and nothing was damaged. The black walnut Newell posts looked incredible. The workmanship was incredible. Everything that I ordered far exceeded my expectations. Very little sanding had to be done prior to doing the finish work. If you are looking for a product that is high quality with a company that backs it up, buy from woodstairs.com.

**Comment from WoodStairs:**

> Thanks for your kind words Drayson! We are happy that your project went well!

> Thank you

> We are re-constructing our staircase and ordered banisters, ballusters and a Newel Post in Brazilian Cherry wood. We called woodstairs.com for help with our order and they were very nice, experienced and helpful. We then received a call from the person who was making our pieces just to verify what we wanted before he made them. We received our order and everything is absolutely beautiful! The banisters, carved post and balusters are perfect and without flaws. We couldn't be happier and will definitely order again! Best experience we've had with any company and we can't say enough about how happy we are with our order!

> This would be 5 stars if the company provided better communication. Two weeks after placing my order I had not heard a word from the company and when I called, it had not even been made yet. But to their credit, they completed the order promptly and covered the extra cost of faster shipping so I could keep my project on it's deadline. Everyone I dealt with was very courteous and professional. I was very pleased with the quality except for one minor detail- the 1 3/4" handrail measured 1/32" over (1 25/32") which meant it would not fit in a 1 3/4" hole. I solved this problem by buying a 45mm Forstner bit and the rail fit perfectly. A minor inconvenience. I would order from WoodStairs again without hesitation.

> I am not a wood worker, I am an electrician with some woodworking skills. Your website makes it easy to find what I am looking for, and your prices are very reasonable. I like that you include a "personal touch" when you send order confirmation and tracking information. You make me feel like I am at your store speaking to you. Please continue to provide the same level of customer satisfaction, it's a lost art in the cyber world.

## Community Q&A

**Q: how long before this might be in stock?** *(in Product Questions)*

A: This would take us 2 weeks to manufacture and ship it. How soon did you need it?

**Q: I would like to order 3 of these in red oak but I need 3.5 inches.** *(in Product Questions)*

Can I get that?

A: This post is designed for the recessed panel on a 4 1/4" wide post. If you want a smaller post there will not be enough room to make a recessed panel on a 3 1/2" wide post. The Panel would be about 1 1/2" wide and we would have to custom make that. The cost would be more and you may not like the look and there would be no refund on a custom product like that. There is no way to process this type of order through Houzz so I would have to say no. There is no way to process an order like that.

**Q: Do you sell this as a half newelpost?** *(in Product Questions)*

Need half newel against wall.

A: The price is $25 to cut the post. I don't know how to charge you for the additional $25 however. What type of wood were you planning on placing the order in. We are having a tough time getting hemlock and debating on whether to take it off our site completely. As long as that's not what you need then we would be ok.

**Q: Do you carry half newel posts to use at the wall?** *(in Product Questions)*

A: We can make them, I don't know how to process that request through Houzz. How many full posts do you need and do you need both halves or just one of the halves?

**Q: please send a phone number for an order** *(in Product Questions)*

Please send me a phone number to order a product.

A: Hi Barbara,
You may reach us at 435-251-9180.
Thanks,
Brenda

**Q: Can you give ma a cost on shipping 6 newel posts 6.25x55 inches to WI. Put them in a cart and came up to almost $200 shipping???** *(in Product Questions)*

Can you give ma a cost on shipping 6 newel posts 6.25x55 inches to WI. Put them in a cart and came up to almost $200 shipping???

A: Hello Paback,
I would be happy to help you with your order. I have a few questions about what you are asking about. The product you are looking at is a 3" square post. Are you wanting a custom post quoted at 6 1/4" square with the same style? And you want a quote on shipping these 6 posts? Let me know what you need and I'll be happy to help.
