The tile is the same color as the cabinets with white grout. My thought so far is to darken the grout. I’m thinking that could make it look better??? What else could be done? You can wallpaper or paint tio make the bath moody and beautifil, and keep the tile. All plumbing is in the same areas of my bathroom, but upgrading to tile heated floor, bigger walk in shower (snail type), freestanding tub and new cabinets/toilet/lights. The bathroom will be the same size as before with the watercloset door and walls being removed. 38,000 seems a bit high. A: Always get a couple of quotes fior sure. That bein g said, could you post some photos and, if possible, plans to make this question easier to judge? Also, does this include materials. Materials now cost more, they have for a couple of years due to shortages. please post some photos and help us help you. https://jarretyoshida.com/ **Q: White oak plank direction: should I mix directions?** *(in Remodeling)* I am about to install my engineered white oak. I'm debating which direction to choose. I attach below the image of the autocad drawing, and 2 renderings with the 2 directions in the open space (forget about the island color, it is actually teal). Subfloor runs at 45 degrees so I can pick any direction. I feel like having the woodfloor in the longer direction would make it look better. installer said: A) there is no problem with the transition between wooden subfloor and concrete slab (see my Houzz discussion on the topic here https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6064766/best-flooring-for-house-with-both-wood-subfloor-and-concrete-subfloor ) B) but he would prefer to run parallel to the 3 doors that goes to the pool, so that if water (rain or pool) damage the planks it will be only a single raw to be replaced. C) also he said there will be a lot of waste to run the planks perpendicular to the walls in the hallway ( that goes to the 3 bedrooms, see upper right on the drawing), and will look bad Therefore I have three options: 1\) Run planks along the longer direction in the open space and everywhere else. 2\) in the longer direction in the open space and in the other direction in hallway and 3 bedrooms. 3\) the longer direction in the open space and and everywhere else, and in the other direction only in the hallway 4\) run planks in the shorter direction in the open space and everywhere else. What do you guys think it's best? A: Absolutely option two. it not only is pleasing to the eye and feels more natural, but will also make the rooms feel longer and roomier. What can be done with this dining room window ?** *(in Home Decorating)* A picture window of our house that was built in the 70’s. 8 foot ceilings. Measurements - Picture window - length - 51-1/2” from top of blinds to top of window sill ledge To bottom of casing - 54” Width - from outer edge of trim - 104” I was thinking of doing just side panels but I really don’t like the look of a curtain rod expanding the whole length of the window. Then I was thinking a valance with side panels - but is that an outdated look? I just don’t know what to do??? Any suggestions would be so very helpful! A: I would put panels on either side and accentuate the width and height of the room and window. Our living room and kitchen are open concept so they need to complement each other. I've been looking at tiles for months and am not sure if I should go with a herringbone pattern or hexagon. I think both could work, but I'm worried that a hexagon pattern on the fireplace might look dated in a few years. I haven't found too many photos out there. A: Hi, A couple of thoughts…I don’t think the hex will really age in a few years. That being said I think the herringbone may, in my opinion, be the way to go for a couple of reasons. The length of the tile lends itself to the width of the fireplace. Also, though it is subtle, the size of the tile in the herringbone (though not the same size it is a length and width idea) ties into the tile in the backsplash in the kitchen. You have a beautiful marble tile pattern in the kitchen and this will tie into and compliment that. I pesonally for these two reasons would go with the herringbone pattern. Hoping this helps. Another spruce will take forever to grow (and was actually too big for the space anyway), and the neighbor already has the arbor vitae. I imagine two poplars there, but I won't do it because I know they're invasive. The vine just seems to highlight the problem (although I might put in a clematis just to soften the corner a little. A: I agree with floral\_uk, and would add that having something climbing the pole onto the wires will add weight and then possibly interfere with service, possibly leading to the wires coming down. Add to the bottom of the pole with maybe a beautiful bush and flowers at the base to grab attantion, it will bring the eye to those and take away from the pole. Hope this helps.
