> Dovetail completely rebuilt our home in 2013. The crew was great and conscientious! Our neighbors loved them. They worked well with our specific owner requests and helped us to get the home we had hoped for. We really appreciated their skill and flexibility.

**Comment from Dovetail General Contractors:**

> Hi there,
>
> Thanks so much for your thoughtful review. We loved building your home - it's like a jewel box with lots of beautiful custom details. So good to hear that the neighbors appreciated us, as well.
>

**★★★★★ — Jennifer B, April 2015**

> In 2013 we hired Dovetail to do an extensive remodel of our mid-century home.
>
> Dovetail impressed us during the bidding process by giving us just the right amount of detail to help us understand what it would take to bring the design to life, they presented the bid with a confidence that made us feel like we could trust them with our home and while the bid was one of the highest, it the most realistic.
>
> Throughout the process we got to know everyone on the team from the framers and subs to our superintendent, they were all smart, conscientious and fun to work with. Our project manager was absolutely outstanding. Communication was flawless, we followed a detailed schedule so we knew what was happening daily and what to expect the following week. We always knew where we were in the budget and they were very open with their billing. Dovetail completed the job on time and on budget.
>
> We had a beautiful design from Graham Baba Architects and Dovetail brought the drawings to life. Our home is more incredible that we could have imagined.
>
> Dovetail has the expertise and experience to do the job right. We highly recommend Dovetail.

**Comment from Dovetail General Contractors:**

> Thank you so much for your wonderful review! Building your home was an amazing opportunity and it remains a feather in our cap.

**★★★★★ — Ballard Cut owner, April 2013**

> Dovetail built our home in Seattle. This was the first time we ever built a home and it was a great experience. They helped us understand the cost implications of our choices and worked with us to get our pricing to our target budget prior to starting the project. Dovetail's spreadsheets and weekly updates, helped us track our budget to keep it on track. The admin part was great.....
>
> The CREW - they were fabulous!!! We were able to come by the site almost every day for a status update and to tweak any changes or answer any questions. Their ability to communicate any issues as they arose, allowed us to make quick decisions, not losing any time to delays. AS a result they completed the project on time and within budget!!!!!!!!!
>
> They used subcontractors that they have longstanding relationships with so they were able to execute the job in a timely and very professional manner. The quality of work was of the highest levels. Their cabinet shop did all of our cabinets and closets which is beautiful.
>
> They had never worked with our architect, Prentiss, but they were able to execute to plan and work out any issues quickly and easily. WE had a very complicated house with tricky components that they executed very well.
>
> Warranty - can't say enough about their after completion work. A couple of things have developed as a result of summer and winter expansions/contractions. I would make a call and they would be here to fix it at no charge within a day of the phone call. Their service is terrific!
>
> I am including pictures of the house while it was under construction so you can see how they put some things together.
>
> So if you want a company that does High quality, beautiful, on time and on budget work - call Dovetail!!!!

**Comment from Dovetail General Contractors:**

> Donna,
> Thank you so much for your kind words and review. It was a complete pleasure working with you. Your project was just the kind of challenge we love to sink our teeth into. As a side note, you mentioned that we had not worked with your architect before (Geoff Prentiss of Prentiss Architects). But to demonstrate just how small of an architecture/build world we live in, one of our current Project Managers actually worked at Prentiss Architects years ago. It’s always interesting how like-minded folks end up in the same circles even across a span of years. Thank you again for your review!

## Community Q&A

**Q: how did you waterproof the plaster shower walls?** *(in Photo Questions)*

what was the process for the plaster walls in the shower?

A: This is tadelakt, a naturally waterproof plaster. Best of luck!

**Q: What is the color of the walls of this shower?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What a beautiful wet room. I am working on a similar project although slightly smaller. What type of plaster is on the walls of the shower and what is the color?
Thanks for sharing.

A: Hi there,
This is venetian plaster. It's a custom color created by the architects and the plaster artist. Hope that helps.

**Q: material on a ceiling** *(in Photo Questions)*

What material was used on a ceiling? Is that teak as well ? If so, is that something that needs to be oiled too ?

A: Hi there, the ceiling is actually cedar with a clear matte finish.

**Q: what windows were used for this stunning house** *(in Photo Questions)*

what windows were used for this stunning house

A: Thanks for reaching out. The windows are all custom and there are two different companies: the thin steel windows are made in Italy by Brombal. The wood windows are made in Washington State by Quantum. Both are excellent.

**Q: subfloor under the teak** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi there, this is identical to what I am currently doing to my master bathroom. All walls will be concrete, and building a level, no transition teak shower floor. My question is for underneath the teak flooring did you guys coat the subfloor that goes to the drain in a dark color so it doesn’t show through the gaps of the teak?

A: Yes, it's tiled with black tiles and black grout.

**Q: Love the chair! Where is it from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love the chair! Where is it from?

A: It's from Blue Dot. Enjoy!
