Next she sent over a budget proposal and once we approved it, she immediately started designing the space out and visiting different wholesalers and stores. This online page really helped us stay connected with what was being picked out, the status of the order, and what still needed our attention. She gave us different options along with pricing for everything, from the smallest detail like grout color and thickness to the bigger items like what type of marble we wanted for the countertops. Having multiple options really helped us stick to our budget while creating a beautiful cohesive look. Ultimately, she goes along with your personal choices but she is also assertive enough to voice her opinion. We had originally picked out carpet before consulting with her (not thinking that carpet selection was that big of a deal). She sent over pictures of the room overlaid on top of the carpet plus other carpet samples she liked better. We right away noticed how bad our initial choice was and I'm so glad she pointed that out to us! You may think you can design a satisfactory space yourself, but it really takes a good interior designer to open your eyes to all the things you would never have considered. How did you handle the edges?** *(in Photo Questions)* I have wood look tile on my floor and I'm thinking about putting it in my shower after seeing your pictures, but I'm not sure how to handle the unfinished edges of the tile. It is about a quarter inch thick and the edges are unfinished. A: Hi there- Here are some close-ups of that shower threshold for you. For grout, we used a color similar to the color of the tile edge -- so the horizontal tile can have a raw edge that will blend in with the grout lines. You can also grout the horizontal edges as well. Hope that helps! **Q: Hearth** *(in Photo Questions)* What is the hearth material? A: Those are limestone concrete blocks. **Q: Fireplace** *(in Photo Questions)* Is this front and left open fireplace an insert or was it custom built? If insert, what is the source?
