We have had a horrendous experience with them painting the trim of our house which has ended up creating more work for us than there was to start. It is an absolute disaster and I have totally lost trust in this company and this experience will make me wary working with anyone else in the future. > > First, the contract states that the "professionals" will prep/sand/use drop cloths... the painters they sent out did pressure wash, but left paint chips all over our entire property. They did zero clean up, I have spent several hours hauling an outdoor shotvac around our house trying to get the paint chips etc. they left behind. > > Second, they painted without sanding. WITHOUT SANDING.... on top of chipped paint. You guessed it, it started cracking immediately and looked horrible. Not only did it look horrible, it will just make it so we would have to have the whole trim re-painted again and correctly in the very near future. They came back and sanded it all and re-painted it, but of course didn't clean up after themselves and left all the sanding mess behind. > > Third, they didn't bother with drop cloths. We now have paint drips all over our roof, around the house on our deck, our patio, our gardens... even on top of our hose pipe (like, the entire hose pipe, not just one drip). How is it even possible that as a painting "professional" through certapro that you wouldn't use drop cloths? Again, more work for us pressure washing and/or having to hire someone to fix the damage they did to our property. > > Fourth and quite frankly the most atrocious part of the entire experience is the "carpentry" work they did replacing some rotted wood on the outside of our kitchen window. First they filled the entire 8inch section with some kind of filler... no wood. then painted over, again... didn't sand. We complained so they came back, ripped it all down and then started using our expensive cement planters as their workbench to hack saw the wood to the size. They didn't even have a table saw to do the woodwork cutting properly. We asked them to stop using our planters and in the end were left with part of the siding hammered on upside down, hack marks from a crowbar left all over the place, and a sweet pile of sawdust all over the ground and our expensive planters. Clearly they had zero skills in carpentry and should have NEVER attempted any of the work. Now we are left with an absolute mess to fix ourselves. > > All along certapro was not communicative. It was pulling teeth with them to get updates on what was happening. Mike the project manager who apparently was supposed to be "supervising" never came onsite when work was being done and didn't come until we had extensive complaints. Oh, and they never bothered to turn up on time within the time-block they sent. Without fail, always late. We also have jobs, which we were taking time away from to come meet them to deal with this mess of paint chips, sawdust, sanding dust, paint drops everywhere and nails left strewn on the ground. Absolutely zero professionalism on their part. Total disaster that is exasperated by the fact that we have young children we are trying to protect from getting hurt from ingesting paint chips or stepping on nails. > > This is our home, they absolutely did a horrible job, they created more work for us with time that quite honestly we don't have (which is why we hired them in the first place). To say we are disappointed is way beyond where we are left. We were told they would "not charge us for the carpentry work" well, of course not, there was absolutely no carpentry work done... they did damage to our home. They said they would take $100 of the price.... to have someone come out and properly fix the mess they left in addition to all the time we have now had to spend cleaning up in addition to all the damage done by not using painting drop cloths is significantly more than $100. > > What an absolute mess.
