Jonathan Nelson, is an architect with a custom furniture design and building construction background. > I hired Denise Nelson to help me decorate and setup a new home in Florida. She was a pleasure to work with. She was has a wonderful aesthetic. Denise constructed some of the most amazing textiles I have ever had. She was able to understand my likes and run with it to make a lovely comfortable and calming atmosphere. She coordinated all painting, wall paper instillation, granite choices and instillation, furniture, and rugs. She also set up the kitchen for use. She worked easily within the budget given. My husband and I even hired her to work on a home we are building in Pa.

> We have worked with Nelson Bridge on an array of complicated interior design projects spanning over 12 years and including, 5 houses, 2 boats, a plane, and a 100,000 sq. ft. office building. We have worked directly with Jonathan and Denise to create exceptional designs and interiors. Aside from superior interior detail; rugs, wallpaper, carpet, molding, furniture, fabrics, tiles, etc..., Jonathan and Denise take interior design to the next level by developing an overall thread of continuity throughout the project.
> Jonathan's original designs include several kitchen, bath, and bar lay-outs, all created by his determining what we wanted and how to make it functional and esthetically pleasing. Denise is a master of color and fabric and how all it speaks to a room in the most complimentary fashion. Additionally, Denise designs and manufacturers her own window treatments and bedding, all of which are one of a kind, making the entire house design/decor cohesive.

> We had an incredible experience working with Nelson Bridge. They provided Interior Decorating services for our 110,000 sq ft bldg, which included, design, color, furniture, fabrics, pictures & framing, wallpaper, etc. We could not have completed the project without their assistance and knowledge in the industry. We have an ongoing relationship and continue to use their services as needed. They were attentive, honest, dedicated, extremely talented, and always available. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing these types of services.

## Community Q&A

**Q: What to do with exterior.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I asked this question before but it didn't get much traction:
I will be closing on the pictured home in the next couple weeks and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what I could do to the exterior of the house to make it a tad bit more appealing. I feel the house has potential, but I am not sure what to do. Should I re-side the house all one color? Add different landscaping? Should I move the front door so it is forward facing?

A: While the green color is not great. The bigger issue is that the lower level is such a light color. The green seems to crush it. I think you need to darken the color of the lower level. Either a dark grey or dark brown, this will make the green less overpowering. You might want to evaluate different colors through photoshop or other program. The idea of a portico, mentioned above, is also an excellent idea. It doesn't even have to be a solid roof, it could be a Pergola or Trellis, something to define the entrance from the street. All the best with your new property!

**Q: Please Help on color for doors/shutters.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

The paint on our front door is starting to show signs of wear and the shutters are also starting to fade. We are going to paint the front door and shutters at the same. What color should we paint them? We were thinking about going with a dark navy blue, similar to what the color is now. What do you think, please help us make this decision easier.

A: This is not the best example, but it gives you an idea of the contrast.

**Q: noisy and cold cathedral ceiling in bedroom fixes** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hey there. I've got a lovely master bedroom with a huge window, sliding glass door and a cedar tongue and groove cathedral ceiling. Its nice to look at but very impractical for sleeping. These features make it noisy (pine cones falling on roof, animals chirping, scurrying, rain, etc.) and cold. I'm thinking about adding a drop ceiling to reduce heat loss and noise. Looking for tops and suggestions of other solutions. Ta.

A: The comments above are right on. I would add the insulation first, since that is probably less expensive and will go a long way toward getting rid of the contact noise from animals. rain, etc.
In addition you may want to consider a ceiling fan mounted as high into the cathedral ceiling as possible. This will help circulate warm air that is caught at the top of your space in winter (Warm air rises...). In addition it will help eliminate cold spots in the room during winter and hot spots during summer. If you do install a fan, be sure to switch the turning direction at the change of season.
