My dining room, with the addition of new lighting, beautiful new cushions and window treatments, is a space I can’t wait to entertain in. Some pieces she "sourced" and suggested I buy were not even available for purchase. She knew I had cats, yet recommended I buy a plant that is toxic to animals. When I inquired about why there was no layout / floor plan visual in the final design document, she told me first that the measurements I provided were insufficient, but then later back tracked and denied I even expressed interest in having it (if I did not request the layout in the final design document, why would she ask me for the measurements of my room as well as the existing pieces of furniture that I intended to keep?). So many pieces I LOVE.” Ultimately, client’s dissatisfaction was a matter of miscommunication on both our parts, not with the design itself. Client was looking for furniture plans in addition to the design document. These were not included because client noted that she had all the dimensions so measurements were not needed. Client did send measurements but they were incomplete and unusable. Furniture plans cannot be accurately completed with incomplete information. Because I understood that client would take care of space planning, the Scope of Work and the Letter of Agreement, both reviewed/signed by client, had no mention of providing furniture plans. > > After client expressed her dissatisfaction, I offered to come back out to measure. I had hoped we could come to a mutually satisfactory conclusion but client cut off communication. At a later date I reached out again and offered to create a floor plan if client provided the complete and accurate dimensions. Client agreed. I spent several hours drafting the floor plan and provided various furniture layout options. I did this at no additional charge.. After submitting the plans, client never responded.
