The company originated in the center of Union County as Tru-Art Kitchens focusing primarily on custom cabinetry for residential customers. Then in 1980, Martin the original remaining owner moved the company to Linden & re-incorporated as Economy Kitchens to cater to a wider variety of homeowners with a solid oak refacing system. Then in 1986 Jay joined the company as a sales consultant. In 1994 Jay & Thomas purchased the company & added bathrooms their ever expanding abilities. In September of 1996 the company moved to Rahway to a larger facility to accommodate its ever growing needs. Now in the fall of 2018 the company is on the move again focusing on the needs of the next generation of homeowners & following the modern trends by creating a state of the art showroom under the new name EKB Kitchen & Bath Remodelers in Scotch Plains, NJ to be in the heart of our customer base. Before the renovations, our powder room was an extra small space that was almost unusable, but Tom knew exactly how to expand the space and make it not only functional but beautiful. He checked in frequently about our progress and communicated every detail along the way. We ended up with a beautiful and highly functional kitchen and powder room. Tom Bak was wonderful to work with, very professional. He came up with great designs, offering brilliant suggestions along the way. Once work began, Tom coordinated everything from carpentry to electrical to plumbing, even flooring, and the entire project went off without a hitch. They built a new kitchen and bathroom for me, and redesigned my pantry, adding a bedroom closet with the back half of the old pantry. The quality of work was outstanding!!!!
