> From walking us through zoning and building department approvals through delivering smart design ideas and opportunities to capture savings without sacrificing quality, Jensen consistently exceeded our expectations. He truly went above and beyond to turn our house in to our dream home. We couldn’t be happier with our decision to hire Jensen!

> Working with Jensen Vasil has been a pleasure. My husband and I first met Jensen in 2013 prior to buying our 19th century brownstone in Hoboken, NJ. Jensen went out of his way to meet with us to discuss ideas. After speaking with other architects, Jensen’s experience in Hoboken and his knowledge of what should be considered when doing a gut renovation gave us the confidence that he was the right choice for us. Jensen was very generous with his time and very patient with our many plan revisions. Our project took us to the Hoboken Zoning Board where Jensen has much experience. He was prepared and presented our project well. Throughout construction, Jensen worked with our general contractor to address any issues that arose throughout the build. I always felt very comfortable asking Jensen his opinion on big decisions that I needed to make - from cabinet layout to paint colors to tile selections. I trusted his judgement and knew that he would give me an honest opinion. Our home was completed in June 2015 and we are thrilled. As with any new home, things come up and we still rely on Jensen’s valuable opinion. I would definitely recommend Jensen Vasil to others and would certainly use him and his team again in the future.

> Jensen and his team did a great job on our gut renovation of our 19 century brownstone. Very professional and provided excellent service through out our project. We plan to hire him again when we dig out the basement.

> It may be a cliche, but it's true here: I can't say enough good things about Jensen. He's smart, honorable, and gifted. He's responsive, resourceful and true to his word. He's also fun to spend time with and really, all in all, just a genuine pleasure to work with.
>
> We've done a job that included additions through the roof and to the rear, historical board approvals, and a general contractor somewhat temperamentally opposed to restoration as opposed to gut and go -- and Jensen has designed and managed it all with aplomb.
>
> I plan to hire him again and have recommended him to others who have, in turn, spoken glowingly of his work.

> We had a fantastic old house on our hands and we must have interviewed twenty architects before we met Jensen, including several restoration specialists from NYC. We instinctively felt Jensen would be great to work with and we were right. Our route in this project has been explorative and meandering and Jensen has been patient, sympathetic and supportive of our process. He's very knowledgable and brings enthusiasm and depth to the project. Part of his job has been dealing with complex local zoning and historical district permissions, which requires considerable tact and persistence. We went before the Historical Board four times and each time Jensen made a professional, articulate case for his design with elegant presentations that impressed and won over the council. He's a good go-between with our contractor, and is always ready to answer questions, deal with problems, and make suggestions. And he has a terrific engineer, Gerald Schubert — accurate, skillful and funny — a pleasure to work with.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Where are the windows from** *(in Photo Questions)*

Redoing an old bathroom and theses might look good

A: They were original to the house, but from the next floor up.

**Q: Lovely! Wood floor?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Please provide details on wood floor.

A: The floor was by LV Wood. European white oak.

**Q: How was the brick distressed?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi I really need details on how this antiqued look was achieved on the brick. There are so many techniques and I like the look that allows the brick to show through. Thank you

A: Hi Joanne,
The distressing was natural. The building is just over 100 years old. There was plaster over the brick. Over the years the white from the plaster left residue on the brick. We just cleaned a bit of it off with water to get what you see here.

**Q: Exposed brick** *(in Photo Questions)*

Do you experience a lot of variations in heating & cooling in the room ? What do you use to keep the room a comfortable even temperature?

A: No, not in this situation. In this instance the brick is a party wall between two conditioned spaces. Energy codes make it close to do this when the other side of the wall is exposed to the elements.

**Q: What company did the pocket shutters for Windows please?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hello,
The shutters were original and were stripped and restored by the contractor.

**Q: What type of vessel sinks are these? Thank you** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: They are Victoria and Albert, Barcelona series.
