**Q: will this tree grow in North Idaho** *(in Photo Questions)*

I live in N Idaho 26 miles from the Canadian border (westside) not too cold.

A: The redbud grows in USDA plant hardiness zones 4B to 9A.  I checked the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map for your area in northern Idaho, and it appears to be in zone 5B.

Also, check with your local garden center to confirm your plant hardiness zone.  Altitude may play a part in knowing if a redbud can grow in your area, also.

**Q: WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE TREE** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The flowering tree shown here is cercis canadensis, or redbud.  Notice it is in clump form instead of a single tree trunk.

**Q: Do you recall the Ajuga variety by any chance?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The ajuga is either 'atropurpurea' or 'Bronze Beauty'.  It was growing in part sun, part shade, therefore, the leaves are more greenish-purple.  If it grows in full sun, you will have purple-bronze foliage.

What exposure does Black-eyed Susan need ?

A: Plant your black-eyed susan's in well drained soil with full sun exposure.  They have a tendency to develop leaf spot if they are too crowded or do not receive enough light and air circulation.  They are an eye catcher, especially if planted in the middle or back of a perennial garden.  Plant individual plants or divisions 18 - 24" on center.

A: This flowering tree is redbud or cercis canadensis.

Anyone know what this is? Is it climbing?

A: This is Clematis variety 'Ramona'. It is vining and can tolerate full sun, however its roots need to be shaded when it is first planted. Once it is bigger, it will shade itself. The motto with this plant is "hot head, cool feet".
