What I value most about Ron is that he’s a straight-shooter. He will tell you off the bat whether the scope of work is within the proposed budget and whether there are any design constraints or complications to completing the project. Part of our renovation included removing a load bearing wall to create an open floor plan. Ron was the only GC to bring through a structural engineer to accurately assess the size of the required steel beam and to ensure that we didn’t need a post for support. His due diligence made me feel confident that he could deliver my desired outcome without any change orders – which is his guarantee. And he did. No matter what came up along the way, Ron always did what was right. His business is not purely about profit - he takes great pride in his work, delivering a superior product and making sure the client is happy. Not only that, but he is the most responsive GC/tradesperson I have ever worked with. If I had any concerns or questions, I could always reach him. Even though my project was not the largest he was working on by far, Ron always made me feel that it was his top priority. To be fair, Ron couldn’t execute to this high standard without an incredible team. Oleg, who handles structural framing, carpentry and millwork is outstanding. He understands how houses are built and can troubleshoot issues with loads, joists, etc., devising creative solutions to achieve the end goal. Dan, who handles cabinetry, has an impeccable attention to detail. All of our kitchen cabinets were handmade in his shop with dovetail joints and thoughtful interior compartments that I didn’t even know I needed or wanted! When I had an idea, Dan would figure out how to build it. Their work is of the highest quality. I can’t say enough good things about Ron, Oleg and Dan – I have recommended them to everyone I know. I’ve even come up with new projects so that we can work together again! The quality of their work is fantastic and the level of communication is unparalleled. He is very transparent about budgets and estimates and much more organized than anyone else we had interviewed or spoken with. We texted with Ron constantly, and he always updated us with frequent phone calls, and I just can’t imagine working with any other team. We don’t just feel like this group helped us move into our house, but truly made it our home, and became friends through the process. Walter did our backsplash and was thoughtful and efficient. Wilson did a bunch of electrical and was incredibly precise. I was ok with "good enough" for getting our kitchen pendants centered but he took the time to make sure they were perfect. There was also Ciro and his floor team, the floors in our house were an eye sore, they had 15 years of wear from dogs and were pre-finished with lots of gaps. After Ciro was done it's really hard to tell they aren't originally site finished. His subcontractors are amazing and they did exceptional work. Oleg (main sub contractor) was a diamond in the rough! His work was always so detailed and just beautiful. This was not planned, but he had to rebuild part of our stairs and did it all in one day. Of course, it came out amazing. Ron has access to a tremendous pool of talent that I would have wasted a very large block of time trying to find. Also, Ron has personally vetted these people and only works with people whom he trusts to the work correctly THE FIRST TIME, and charge market rates. So, when you are hiring Ron not only are you hiring him to manage the process, but you are hiring his sub-contractors, his talent pool that he has personally vetted, who are accredited, and professional as he is. I also noticed that there seemed to be a team mentality among his sub-contractors who all got along very well, and obviously had worked with one another on several different projects. Ron not only manages the process but the people > > I have trouble visualizing things which can make me a nightmare to deal with. Ron was very patient with me and had an excellent way of explaining complex problems to me the layman, which I cannot overstate enough. Ron’s communications skills are excellent, keep in mind I only met him once for three days over a four-month period. ALSO as well as being a builder Ron was very good at identifying my style and once that was done he would make suggestions that would correspond to the aesthetic design or “look” that I was going for. The little things that made such a big difference: moulding, trim, colors of floor stains, lighting, and fixtures. He was very good at making suggestions for example: after realizing that due to dry rot an enclosed sunroom would have to be demolished and replaced, he came up with the idea of adding a deck that would extend the sunroom, and add recreational space to the back of the house as we had to tear it out anyway why not rebuild it and modernize it at the same time? > > In conclusion, I used Ron Mayne and you should too. The reasons that I used Ron initially were based on his reviews, and I really don’t think 5 stars is sufficient for Ron but that’s the highest on the scale that we are dealing with, so it will have to do.
