> I love working with Win! She did my master bedroom and bathroom and closet remodel. It turned out stunning. Win is easy to work with,, very knowledgeable, and always picks up her phone to talk to you. She's also excited about your project.

> Win Dell'Ario, the principal and designer, did a first-floor remodel of my house which included a flip of my living room and kitchen, and my bath. The design, rustic-contemporary, included at this heart, a kitchen for me, a chef, to teach in. It is functional and beautiful, and won an award by the National Kitchen and Bath Association. All of my professional food-industry friends walk in and say "Wow." The design won an award
>
> It fulfills exactly what I asked of Win, which is that the space be entirely suitable for me as a single person who wants to love a space in which I can create, but can also be transformed into a working kitchen for 20. She utterly understand my own ethos and taste, as well as the vibe of a community in a learning kitchen.
>
> She is professional and compassionate, listens well, and knows up to date details about kitchen appliances and hardware. She puts her whole self passionately into a project. I can't recommend her highly enough.

> Win is a joy to work with.
> Her color sense is dead-on, and we absolutely trust her judgement. Love our home.

> Win Dell-Ario was given the job of transforming a 90 year old cottage in a village on the California coast into a luxurious couple’s get-a-way. Win was so patient with us while we traded ideas and discussed various ways to utilize the 700 sq. ft. of living space. The result has been beyond our dreams . . . the spacious living room, the beautiful and functional kitchen, and the bedroom that opens onto a fantastic bath through a series of sliding panels. I had no idea so much could be done with so little! Thanks, Win . . . you’ve given us a treasure!

> Win has helped us with several design projects-- both large and small -- and we wouldn't work with anyone else. Recently, she helped us redo a non-functional and ugly bathroom which also housed our washer and dryer. We replaced everything except the bathtub but Win's planning and on-time ordering of product made it possible to complete the project in three weeks with minimal disruption to our daily lives. The custom cabinetry provides all the storage we need and I'm very pleased with the stacked w&d which are convenient and functional.
> Her sensitivity and attention to our budget, our taste and domestic requirements are outstanding.
> Win's design expertise, knowledge of products and ability to work with suppliers make her our
> designer for life.

> I've worked with Winn off and on through several years redecorating master bedroom and bath, family room, power room , laundry room and small wash room and a TV room/guest room. She has always been very respectful of my wants and my individual style working together to create the feel that's in my mind. Her response to sample requests and communications were always quick and follow through was always excellent. I would certainly recommend her for any design project.

> We worked with Win at designs Dell'Ario when we first had plans to build a house. She gave us expert advice on the designs, especially in the kitchen, that made everything work better together. She helped us with lighting, paint colors, furnishing and decorating. She worked with us to create an inviting and comfortable home that feels welcoming. I can't praise her highly enough.

**★★★★★ — Kurt Mayrand, Oct. 2013**

> Win Dell'Ario has a keen eye for design that far exceeds mine and my wife's own imagination. She probes and listens carefully to understand needs and tastes, and then adapts her learnings to the physical space. Win quickly yet carefully arrives at a plan with the perfect balance of style, color, texture, aesthetics and function.
>
> Win is also flexible in her approach. There have been ocassions when we have engaged Win to produce a complete design and other times when we have used her for hourly consulting. She is the perfect sounding board to discuss ideas, seek validation, and most importantly, to prevent costly mistakes.
>
> I highly recommend Win for any project.

**★★★★★ — mardicoyle, Oct. 2013**

> While I have worked with Designs Dell'Ario for many years, and continue to do so today, on a myriad of small projects, I had Winifred completely re-do my rented apartment in 2002: painting, lighting, carpetting, drapes, shades, closet and cabinet doors, and furniture. What impresses me most about Win is how, in a very short period of time, she is totally able to get into my head in understanding my taste. It is a rare that she shows me a color, a material, or a piece of furniture that I do not like. This means that our decorating meetings are quick and painless. Winifred is also price conscious. She presents options and is very honest about where to save money and where to spend it. I am absolutely pleased with all of the projects Win has done for me. Mardi Kildebeck

> We have hired Designs Dell'Ario Interiors for multiple projects over 12 years. 3 kitchen designs (one implemented in our home and 1 is pending in our summer home that is outside the US and 1 design that was "gifted" to our friends who were doing a house remodel and were frustrated with an architects design that was really the same old, just updated. Win came into our friends project with an entirely different view and she made all the difference. Both of our houses have kitchens that have withstood the test of time, heavy use and lots of entertaining. Win also contributed to a major fireplace remodel in our summer home. The fireplace blocked the view of the ocean and had to be reconfigured and her knowledge of space and dimensions made a significant difference to the outcome. Back to our kitchen - Win was hobbled in the design of our kitchen because of radiant heat floors that couldn't be accessed to put in new plumbing and believe it or not she was required to integrate two big chopping boards that came individually with my husband and I. Two final designs just made the kitchen perfect (and it still feels that way 10 years on) was the design of a cooking hood that had to disguise the traditional fan because the view from the living room was to the end of the kitchen as part of a great room. She designed it and had it fabricated of bronze. And she had one more design that was very personal. We were frustrated that we couldn't find an art piece for one section of the kitchen wall that was too bare. Win proposed that she design and construct a fabric art piece with fabric radishes, onions, potatoes, greens, and similar that could be sold in any high end gallery. It was a perfect finish to a perfect kitchen design that was made for people who really cook.

> Win Dell'Ario does a fabulous job! She has designed a bathroom, redone our living room, and most recently did a complete tear-down and remodel design for our kitchen, family room, laundry, third bathroom, and pantry. Her creativity, knowledge of the industry and the products, and ability to work with the client to understand their needs is absolutely first rate. She's never at a loss for an idea, or how to solve a problem, she has impeccable taste, and for people like us who are somewhat style and color challenged, she's a godsend. We couldn't have found a better person to work with. In fact, three close friends are now using her for their design projects and are delighted as well.

**★★★★★ — innovationpartners, Oct. 2013**

> Win Dell'Ario completely transformed my office. We never could have done it even 10% as well without her, and she stayed precisely within my budget. You couldn't ask for anyone better.
>
> I argue with her, I give in, then she's ALWAYS right.

 - Description: Like many Seventies California ranches, this home had an unused front patio of aggregate slabs. Instead, the new owners envisioned a covered, outdoor living room that offered flexibility of use, whether as an individual hangout, breakfast for two, or large barbecue parties. We employed concrete to dress up the structural roof supports, wrap the outdoor kitchen, and mold into planks for flooring. Cost effective and durable, this typically cold but green material was warmed with color glazes and i…

 - Description: Part of a whole house redesign in Los Altos Hills. The clients wanted an outdoor shower near their new spa and pool that was private yet integrated into the landscape design. Our shower design triples as a garden sculpture and a water feature. Taking a cue from Gaudi, who designed using biomorphic forms of nature, we designed a cylindrical shower made of three concave concrete panels, fabricated by our landscape team. The pebbled shower floor adds another natural surface. Panel faces have impres…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Pit** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where did the fire pit come from?

A: custom - made by a concrete artisan in Petaluma, CA -- Studio Replica

**Q: What company is the accent tile from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: hi, Korie-- I need to check Houzz more often! I got them at a tile store in Burlingame that is no longer in business, and I don't remember the mfr of the mosaic. You might try All Natural Stone in Burlingame.

**Q: Is this a stamped concrete made to look like wood?** *(in Photo Questions)*

This is a stamped concrete made to look like wood, correct? You are in the bay area? Who did the concrete work? Thanks!

A: close-- individually formed concrete planks, installed with grout. Made by John Lamos in Petaluma.

**Q: what material is used for the shower wall?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: These convex walls were formed in texture-lined, curved concrete molds. Stain was applied by brush afterward. they were installed in a poured concrete footer. since the panels also serve as an outdoor fountain, we inserted copper tubes through the length of the panels before casting so that they were plumbed. thanks for asking.

**Q: Landing space** *(in Photo Questions)*

I have limited space in a kitchen remodel. Could you share how much landing space is on either side of the cooktop? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

A: hi-- I always follow the NKBA standards, which state 12" & 18" minimum for a cooktop and in this case we had 18" on each side of the 36" cooktop. I hope this helps, and good luck with your remodel... Win

**Q: Can you share the exact stain color on the cedar?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Following up: the stain and sealer are Benjamin Moore Arbor coat semi-transparent mahogany
