We paid half up front. They proceeded to give us 3 bids, all above our price range -- one was double our budget! When we said that we weren't going to be able to proceed at those numbers, they kept all the money, refusing to refund any of it but $300. **Comment from Steven Allen Designs, LLC:** > We are sorry for any misunderstandings or expectations that were not met. Please refrain from attempting to trash our name with FALSE statements as our families rely on our reputation and income that this company provides. Pertaining to your situation your design/service contract was in the amount of $4,768.87 and the amount of $2,384.44 was paid to start services for presentations and estimates. Design Services of $1,650 was charged to Measure and create architectural floor plans and exterior elevations for your existing structure and (3) concept architectural floor plans and exterior elevations for 3 different concepts which ranged from desired Budget to High End Remodel/Addition. $400 was charged to develop (3) sets of Estimates, takes offs and presentation packets. Resulting in a $334.44 refund which technically was not required to be refunded but we did to show good faith. At this rate this is very below market and it would be rare if any one else would have charged you this fair of a price with a 5 day turn around during the hustle and bustle of the Christmas holidays. It is very challenging to determine an accurate budget on a large home remodel/addition with out plans and measurements and that is why plans are needed to determine accurate scope of work. > It is common that peoples eyes are bigger than their budgets. We understand this type of work is more expensive than most people think. Sorry for any misunderstandings and if there is a time you would like to meet and discuss we are open.
