Here's my story. My husband and I decided to do a FSBO. Maybe not the best choice in hindsight. Our house was on the market for 43 days with tons of showings but no real offers. My sister, a real estate agent in Houston, suggested staging would help tremendously. We have moved to our new home and had little to leave in the old house. I called several stagers in our area and was impressed with Renee on so many levels. Honest, responsive, caring. She visited our home for evaluation. Our neighbor who is showing the house for us met with her. His comments back to me were "consummate professional". I spoke with her on the phone afterwards and she was honest with me about her opinion on making the best showing we could. She did not try to oversell me with what needed to be staged and I felt like she was giving me the same advice she'd give to a close friend, even though we had never met. Based on her advice I arranged for a painter and had scheduled with her to stage the house. The day the work to update the look of our house began, I could not believe my ears when a couple that had previously given us a ridiculously low offer made another offer that was well within our budget. We accepted. I notified Renee that we had accepted an offer and would not be needing her services. Instead of being upset with the loss of business, she expressed sincere happiness that we had been able to sell our home. So the bottom line to me is - you can get lots of people with artistic flair to come fill your home.
