He was building beautiful cabinetry in a storage unit in the middle of nowhere. I had been referred to him by a kitchen person in Palos Verdes that was helping me design a new kitchen for my townhouse renovation in Hermosa Beach. I met with Alex several times and was pretty sure he was the real deal. Then I placed my order. I was nervous and excited. When Alex showed up with the pieces to my new kitchen and began work installing, I knew I had made the best decision in the world. Everything was done beautifully in true custom quality workmanship. Now I am living in my fourth home since then and every time I decide to change something he is my first and most confident call. Let us know if there is anything you would specifically like to know about the project. **Q: Kitchen Remodel and Home Remodel – Los Gatos, California** *(in Before & After)* When our client reached out to us, they needed to update their home and create more space for their family. After meeting we found that their wish list also included a home office, a nice entry way and open space. To help bring both their wants and needs to life, we added space to the front of the house and opened up some areas near the kitchen. See More After Photos! A: Very nice layout. I like that you brought in the grey cabinetry in the island. **Q: KItchen cabinets? Should all upper cabinets be 14" vs 12" deep.** *(in Design Dilemma)* Our plan currently has 12" and a few at 15" for a staggered effect. Our ceilings are only 9ft so the cabinets go all the way up. A friend suggested all uppers be 14 and extent the few to 16 1/2. Is that common? Do I need to adjust the lower cabinets? Any thoughts on this idea. A: Design wise, as stated, staggered cabinets are out. Going to a deeper wall cabinet may hinder your counter usage as well. But, you may have extra deep plates that require a deeper cabinet interior. Clean straight lines are the way to go but, the kitchen must be functional too so use the depth increase only when needed. **Q: Backsplash?** *(in Photo Questions)* Gorgeous backsplash ... assuming the edge isn't finished, how did you finish the top edge where it isn't running up into the cabinetry?
