The wall across from the couch has the flatscreen TV and another wall is the fireplace. I've attached a rendering of the room. Note that we no longer have the piano and the chair in the rendering can be moved to another room. The two options I see are: 1\. Put the second sofa on the left wall where the piano is in the rendering. Downside is that the two sofas are at an 'L' to each other, not across from each other. 2\. Put the second sofa across from the existing couch, but that puts the second sofa with it's back to the TV. (We generally chat when people come over rather than watch a sporting event, etc. so not being able to see the TV wouldn't really be an issue for the folks on the 2nd sofa.) Thoughts on these options? Other ideas? A: Unfortunately you don't have a ton of options. You could do the sofa facing the fireplace and then look at getting 3 swivel chairs - 2 facing the TV and then 1 in the nook between the TV and fireplace. So it's a very neutral blank slate to start with. You might consider adding yellow/gold or blue as an accent color. A: Honestly it looks like this might be the perfect area for a breakfast nook. It would allow you to keep the space by the stools open, so people can use that area, and then create a nook for the table so as to not have the table in the middle of the space.
