What are the dimensions in this space?** *(in Photo Questions)* Office and cabinet sizes A: Hi- the desk area is about 4 1/2-5' wide, and the cabinets on the right have roughly 18" wide doors- so they're also about 5' plus the depth of the desk which is somewhat shallow at 20"+- **Q: what is the brand of the ovens** *(in Photo Questions)* A: they are Miele brand ovens. **Q: countertop** *(in Photo Questions)* Is this silestone countertop? If yes, what color? A: Yes it is Silestone, though I don't recall what color was chosen- sorry. **Q: Microwave dilemma** *(in Design Dilemma)* My over the range microwave just went on me....after 28 years! When my kitchen was designed back then, the designer came up with a faux hood to put above it. A sort of "sleeve" was installed underneath, and the microwave slid in and was attached to the dudes of the sleeve. I need to replace this appliance, but the dealers tell me the new ones won't fit into this sleeve installation and that I need a cabinet above the microwave to install it. My cabinets are no longer made, and I don't want to redo my entire kitchen. Any ideas???? A: I agree with some of the other posts. You should be able to have someone come in and mount plywood and bracket it to be structurally sound, and mount a new microwave to it. They may need to take out the sleeve that's currently above your microwave to increase the space available. Also, do check about height clearances. From the picture, it does look quite low, and not up to code in my area (and more importantly not safe). Good luck. **Q: Family room** *(in Design Dilemma)* It's time to make a decision after five years of indecisiveness. What color should I paint the built-in? The room will be ivory with a whiter trim. I ordered doors for the shelving (shaker, unfinished maple). Wood mantel is old barnboard. Can't find large enough board for a counter. Granite's too expensive. Main worry is that if I paint it the trim color, will it look terrible with such a dark countertop. A: I agree- having built ins beside the fireplace can really warm up a space, but based on the picture, this one takes away from the beautiful stonework. Consider removing it or replacing it. If that's not an option, possible a light grey to play off the stone color but in a subdued way- the counter is an issue here. Going very dark the first poster mentioned can also work. **Q: Please help update my front porch!** *(in Design Dilemma)* Not looking at spending a ton of money but definitely needs some TLC A: Some additional options are to paint the cement floor/steps (I'd go medium to dark in color), or visually warm them up by running wood decking on top of it, with white trim, and a railing between the posts and the house.
