> Bill at Triangle Design Kitchens did an excellent job with our kitchen project from beginning to end. He worked within our budget to come up with great options and we are so pleased with the end result. Clear communication throughout the project and all deadlines were met. If you are looking for a high degree of professionalism and quality work, go with Triangle Design Kitchens.

> We bought a house with a tiny 9 x 11' kitchen and called Triangle Design to set up an appointment right after we closed. Met with Bill Camp who listened to what we were envisioning, and came up with a design that was perfect for the space we had to work with capturing every detail we had asked for in a remarkable way.
>
> The original dining room and kitchen walls were removed to make one large area. The remaining walls and ceiling were gutted to the studs for this major overhaul. One outside wall went from windows, to a sliding patio door.
>
> Brand new, custom made Hickory Cabinets were installed by Ashley Boltinhouse. These cabinets were built by a company in Wisconsin, and are stunning in their natural beauty. Ashley did a fantastic job with the install.
>
> Total job was extensive, including plumbing, electric, painting, and construction. As is the norm, there were a couple of hiccups, but Bill Camp was on it immediately. Mr. Camp was thorough, attentive, and informative every step of the way. Any questions or concerns we had were addressed typically same day or within 24 hours. Even on the weekends!
>
> We enjoyed working with Bill and his VP of Customer Relations, Milo (his dog). Our completed kitchen is everything we asked for and we couldn’t be more pleased.

> After 38 years, it was time to completely remodel our kitchen. I LOVE to cook!!! My goal was a VERY WELL LIT, beautiful, ALL WHITE, FUNCTIONAL kitchen. After much research, I hired Bill Camp of Triangle Design Kitchen. I am now cooking in a "dream kitchen" that far exceeds my expectations. Bill did all the planning and quarterbacked a team of skilled professionals. The man is a knowledgeable, EXPERIENCED, creative, "KITCHEN PROFESSIONAL"!!! He knew all the "state of the art" kitchen appliances, cabinetry, corner units and storage systems. I listened to and went with 100% of his ideas. The end result is fabulous!!! Bill customized everything to how I cook and what I cook with. He cleverly used every inch of space. The entire experience was delightful. The kitchen is functional, BRIGHT and beautiful! I'm one very, very happy chef :-)

> Our decision to use Bill Camp and Triangle Design Kitchens to remodel the kitchen and powder bath in our downtown condo was an easy one. Bill had done the existing kitchen for the previous owner, so we knew he would be the best choice for the upgrades that we wanted to make which included quartz countertops, commercial grade appliances, additional storage, and built in seating. My wife and I also wanted to completely redo a half bath, as well as add storage and tile to an adjacent family room.
>
> Bill was extremely helpful in the design phase of the project. His knowledge of cabinet design allowed him to take the wild design ideas that we had and adapt them to work within our budget through the creative use of semi-custom cabinetry. He literally brought our concepts to life, including a tiled ventless fireplace with a mantle that integrated into surrounding cabinetry, built in bench seating with storage that matched our existing cabinets, quartz window sills, and a minimalistic floating bathroom vanity.
>
> I was thoroughly impressed with Bill's business acumen- clearly he has been doing this for many years. As we moved forward with scheduling the reno, Bill outlined the scope of work and timeline with official contracts so that we would always know exactly what to expect. Even minor change requests were documented with official change order paperwork which assured me that every detail that we had discussed would be addressed.
>
> The cabinet order arrived on schedule, and the crew went to work. Cabinetry installation was handled by Ashley Boltinhouse, while electrical, plumbing, and tile was subbed out to Bill Stockford and Steve Beezley, with all coordination of the work handled by Bill Camp. The attention to detail that the TDK team puts into their work is absolutely incredible. "Good enough" is not in their vocabulary - everything fits perfectly, doors line up exactly, drawers open and close smoothly, and tile work is perfectly centered and transitions seamlessly to adjacent surfaces.
>
> The finished product totally exceeded our expectations, and my wife and I could not be happier. We would absolutely recommend Bill Camp and Triangle Design Kitchen to anyone considering a kitchen or bath remodel.

> Our 1950's knotty pine kitchen was completely remodeled, and the wall between the kitchen and dining room was opened up. The kitchen was taken down to the studs; new floor, ceiling, cabinets, countertops, and appliances were installed. Most of the appliances were relocated, and a small eating area was created. The cost listed includes all new appliances, and some extras (mostly new doors) that we added to the project.
>
>
> We looked at a few contractors for this project. TDK was the only one that included design services, which was important to us since we wanted to open up one wall, and knew this would require relocating appliances and a new layout. Bill Camp was great to work with throughout the entire project - he took the time to listen to what we wanted, helped us think about what we needed, and came up with a great layout that gave us everything we wanted. He gave us good leads on places to look for flooring and backsplash materials, as well as for appliances. We also worked with him to choose quality cabinets and countertops that fit into our budget. He and the folks he subcontracted to did a great job installing the cabinets, countertops, and backsplash. He checked in regularly as the project progressed, and was happy to fix any issues that cropped up. He even came himself after the project was basically finished to bring an install a cabinet handle that had not been ordered with the others, and to install some door stops that became necessary once the appliances were installed.
>
> We also used the contractor he usually works with & recommends, Bill Stockford of Energy Independent Builders. They were also easy to work with, and did quality work on the plumbing, electrical, carpentry, insulation, drywall, and painting (his crew didn't do the floors - the company we purchased the flooring from did that install).
>
> I would highly recommend Bill Camp and TDK - we are very happy with both how our project was handled, and with our new kitchen.

**★★★★★ — rongore, Dec. 2013**

> Over the past several years, we have engaged Bill Camp to undertake a variety of projects of varying scope. Our most recent project was a complete kitchen remodel. His design plan was imaginative, practical and well tailored to our specific requirements. His particular strengths are his design ability, knowledge of available products, quality of subcontractors, communication skills and apparent good relations with suppliers. In all our dealings he has been totally transparent about costs and any difficulties with executing our projects. The one weakness we can cite is that we found him to be a bit disorganized with the completion of the kitchen project; but to be fair, extraneous factors beyond his control may have contributed to this.

**★★★★★ — gewalk1, July 2013**

> Bill designed our kitchen. He was courteous and respectful. He always returned our calls on time, and has delivered on his promises from design phase, to demo phase, through completion with 100% satisfaction. If you want honesty, and diligence, you cannot go wrong with Triangle Design Kitchens.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Dimmer switches - Love them or hate them?** *(in Polls)*

Some people hate them, some people love them.

(I'll tell you which one I am later.)

What do you think about them? Do you use them?

A: I'm a fan of dimmers. The lighting in a room is the most important feature in it's function and it's mood. If you can't see your work you can't do it. But to change the mood for entertaining, a gentle midnight snack visit to the kitchen and to gently illuminate your space while highlighting it's design accents it's hard to beat the ability to raise and lower the intensity of the general, task and accent lighting. And if you don't like them...you don't have to touch them.

**Q: One Small Kitchen, Many Doorways** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My kitchen is in a small condo. It's awkward as well as ugly. I have two renovation plans: the cheap short term and the expensive long term. The walls are painted as a part of the short term plan and later on I'll do a before and after. I've got some good ideas and plans for how to gussie up the kitchen in its current configuration. But what about the long term. I'm stumped!

The room is at the back of the apartment and, as you can see from the pictures, it has four doorway openings. In the picture with the single door, one is looking into the dining room.

The cabinets are white melamine and the stove dates with the cabinets from an 80s flip. The wall to the left of the stove is the building's chimney.

In the picture with the three doors, one is - from left to right - looking at the door to the back stairway, the opening to the "pantry" and the nook that used to house the refrigerator. Behind the behemoth of a fridge, is a blank wall where, I suspect one should have a kitchen table. To the right of that is the opening to the tiny hallway that has the doors to the office, bathroom, and bedroom.

On the far left of the photo with the fridge, one can see the end of the short counter that houses the sink and the dishwasher.

So, stove on one wall with 24 inches of counter space, sink and dishwasher on another wall, fridge on a third wall. All separated by doorways.

The wall with the windows is the outside of the building, the wall with the fridge is the bearing wall.

How would you configure this silly, silly kitchen?

A: I would suggest removing the wall between the kitchen and the hall, closing the existing pantry opening and moving it to the wall in the current hallway. This would allow you to build in a full size refrigerator in it's current location, and to build in a microwave like the Sharp under cabinet series next to it with a base cabinet and counter below. With the hall and kitchen now one larger room you can open up the wall between the kitchen and dining room and have your cabinets run in an L-shape from the dining room to the doorway to the stairs. The sink can go under the windows and the range can be located to the right of the windows with plenty of storage and counter space on both sides. This greatly simplifies your maze of doors and small, segmented spaces into one larger and more efficient room. The resulting space will seem much larger since it's so open and the traffic patterns will become much simpler and efficient as well. Finally, as another poster suggested, have a closet specialist come in and design a shelving system in your pantry to maximize your storage in that room and save on the cost of building in cabinetry in that space.
