> Hiring FrenchCountryPineDesign was one of the best decisions we have ever made. Kirsten's work was flawless. We hired her to do a first floor and lower level remodel. We chose her because she is a licensed contractor and an impeccable interior designer. She reworked the structural bones of our home using her architectural backround making sure that each room flowed together like pages in a magazine. Then she used her design skills to make the rooms comfortable yet breathtakingly beautiful. It's two years later and we are still in awe of her work. Everything was done in a timely manner. The people she has working for her are professional, trustworthy and family oriented. Kirsten's work far exceeded our expectations. When you hire her you get the total package and a friend for life.

> I hired French Country Pine & Design to redo my bedroom and study. The results were beautiful and just what I asked for. I couldn't be happier and would recommend the designer, Kristen, to anyone.

> Hand crafting, attention to detail, beautiful unique designs--all part of the services created by French Country Pine & Design. Kirsten did an amazing job of understanding what we like and what fits our life style. She was able to take a few key pieces in our home and work off them to design living spaces throughout our house the are functional, beautiful, and family friendly.

 - Description: Julilly Kohler built this 4,000 sq ft shell as part of a European courtyard development overlooking the Milwaukee River. French Country, as Residential Contractor and ASID Designer, had the honor of designing and building out the interior in the Asian Modern style. Here is a peek at all of the layers required for a good design- electrical, plumbing, insulation, flooring, slabs selection, etc. In this custom design, every piece is interconnected.

 - Description: This traditional Brookfield home remodel included a combination library/media room buildout for the men in family but quickly became a favorite room of the ladies of the house as well. The coffered ceiling is the aesthetic anchor of the room and can be seen from the new open sightline from the French Country kitchen.

 - Description: This tiny house remodel was based on a Paris style apartment. The small footprint is full of detail and is best described as spirited. Sometimes the largest of homes fall short on character while the smaller ones can maximize a design budget. Incorporating a library look into any room is an instant mood-setter while the English pine antiques bring forth the character lines.

 - Description: We gave this owner a fusion of traditional and French Country in keeping with the rest of the house remodel. We started with a wonderful antique pine English dresser for the sink and a beautifully oxidized piece of tin crown molding for the hood. The rest is a blend of all the things that made Sharon smile. Simple!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Love your style** *(in Photo Questions)*

Would you share the name of the granite and backsplash you used in designing this kitchen. I love it! You have a great "French Country" style.

A: That is 3cm Costa Esmeralda Granite

**Q: display dishes** *(in Photo Questions)*

your design is exquisite! I love how the dish collection is displayed. could you please tell me who made this piece. Thank you for sharing your experience

A: Thank you for the compliment. I am known for incorporating antique pieces into each design as it gives the space some instant history. There are two antiques used in this kitchen. The first is this English pine plate rack. The second is an English pine dresser that I built-in to house the sink. While it would be very hard to replicate the patina of the antique dresser, I have made several replicas of the plate rack using pine, adding worming and distressing and then Briwax it for color. Or, use a wood like Wormy Butternut and the distress will be there already.

**Q: is the grey and white counter marble or granite** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Miss Effie is sitting on a 20 year old piece of Carrara marble that has become honed due to high use. The rest of the kitchen has new slabs of the same but are still in polished condition. I would call this a "puddled" slab which is my favorite compared to spotted or striated. They are harder to find but well worth the search.

**Q: Wood counter** *(in Photo Questions)*

What type of wood surrounds this sink? And, what seals it to not stain?

A: You are only seeing the top of what is an antique English dresser that we retrofit to hold a 30" undermount sink in a French Country laundry room. The piece is pine and we used a mat polyurethane to seal it. We used an English Briwax on the bottom section of the dresser as I typically dislike the look of any polyurethane on an antique piece but that is not sufficient to seal the top.

**Q: love the wallpaper** *(in Photo Questions)*

can you tell me where to purchase the wallpaper

A: The wall sconces over the sink are Currey and Company out of Dallas.
