He always goes by the plans. You will really pay for a change. When you are building you are on a budget but as “non builders” we don’t know what a budget is so when you choose your countertops or cabinets or floor, I am not your customer as the vendors said “he is” so I am not allowed to know > The price of what I am buying. Even though he is pulling the money from our construction account. > I was told how wonderful everything was and how certain things were against code etc, yet I was a realtor for 20 years and worked in new home sales for 15 of that so unless Shelby is not compliant with Charlotte laws, well then. In other words, he can build a house. It is sturdy, he has no ability to understand design. My closets are full of plastic that have bent or fallen. Don’t misunderstand. This house is valued at 1 m on the lake. This is our retirement home and I will admit I did not watch well at the time due to proximity and the fact that we had medical issues. BUT Matthew Smart is a GREAT business man. We have been in the house for several years now and haven't had any structural or cosmetic issues and the re-sale value has increased over that time period. If we weren't pleased with something cosmetically, Matt would correct the issue for us with no hassle involved.
