My brand-new Brama Retro Refrigerator (Model BR-RETRO-01-B, Capacity 281L / 9.9 cu ft) never cooled for even a minute because the compressor was completely nonfunctional. The unit came equipped with a UKN52YA R600a compressor, and it failed straight out of the box. > > The compressor ran hot, but the copper discharge line and condenser stayed room temperature — a textbook sealed-system failure and clear evidence that the compressor wasn’t pumping refrigerant at all. This was a true dead-on-arrival unit despite following all setup instructions, including letting the fridge stand upright for 24 hours before powering it on. > > Brama/Vinotemp chose this compressor and are responsible for quality control. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend avoiding this product line. **★ — JK, Nov. 2025** > Purchased Undercounter Wine Cooler/Refrigerator direct from Vinotemp (Henderson, Nv) delivered Jan 2022. The unit didn't not make it thru it's 3rd year before total failure. Communicating with Vinotemp customer service was a dead end. Strange thing was, when first delivered I noticed how 'flimsy' the design was (Frame, Leveling Feet, Door, Shelf Design, etc). Absolute cheap chinese junk. Sourced a Samsung replacement model. Everything is better right down to the sliding shelves roller bearing design. Due to engineering, manufacturing & customer support I will never buy anything from Vinotemp again. My recommendation: look at Samsung, pay a little more and get a quality unit... **★ — HU-269729006, June 2021** > Had my expensive wine fridge delivered. Told I would get "white glove" service. Fridge came and had a dent in the back. Didn't send it back because I'd already waited so long to get it and figured I would get a reasonable amount of compensation back from the company. The fridge was not going to fit in my doorway so I asked the guy if he could take off the door which would give us the extra inch we needed. He did so, but broke the electric connection which we didn't know until it was inside the house. He obviously didn't know anything about these fridges which have electronics inside the door. Once inside the house, when we plugged it in, it didn't work and so I asked them to take it back which they refused to do. Instead, the delivery truck driver who again doesn't know anything about these fridges decided to try and fix it which he may or may not have done completely, but it seems to be working for now. Vinotemp offered me $50 for the ding which if I try and sell the fridge is not nearly adequate compensation and when I asked them to have a technician come out to verify that the unit was "fixed" properly by the DRIVER, they refused. > > I'd definitely look elsewhere for a wine fridge than these guys. **Comment from Vinotemp:** > White glove service requires the owner to make sure the doorframe is measured so the unit can clear the inside placement as the drivers are not installers and do not disassemble nor do electrical work on a unit. This information is also available on our website as far as expectations on delivery and different delivery service levels. > We at Vinotemp do everything we can to ensure that our units arrive to our customers blemish free and if there is any physical damage we would want to make sure to address this right away, letting both the company and the freight company know so that a switch out order is placed timely, so that you receive a perfect unit. I contacted Vinotemp, sent them a photo of the display and a rep from Vinotemp responded with the part that I needed to order. A few weeks later the part shows up and its the wrong part. I contacted Vinotemp again, sent additional pics - based on their request. They told me I needed to order a different part, really? And, they refused to take back/refund for the part they initially told me that I needed. Seems like a total scam. We do offer a 1 year warranty or 90 day warranty plus the option of an extended warranty, covering any parts and labor within the warranty period. Ordering technical products, such as replacement parts is often a confusing process, especially when done online or over the phone. That is why we ask our customers to take the extra step of submitting a photograph. We do our best to provide our customers with advice on how to repair their units, but it sounds like we failed you on this occasion. Thank you. **★ — Doug, June 2015** > Had a custom 300 bottle cabinet built and had Vinotemp spec 2 Winemate HDT 1500 coolers. At 13 months old the first unit stopped working and I called Vinotemp for help with the repair. They gave me 3 repair providers. 2 of the recommended facilities said they no longer work on Vinotemp. The technician told me I could ship the part back at my expense and we could wait 2 weeks for the new part or he could just provide it now at my expense. Way too much hassle so I just paid the $250.00 to have it repaired. Now the second unit has failed with the exact same issue. I ask for some consideration and help with the repair and was told not we cannot help you. Both units failed within 15 months. I would highly advise against using Vinotemp Winemate coolers. **Comment from User:** > Thank you for your feedback. Wine-Mate Cooling Systems come with a 1 year limited warranty with the option to purchase a 1, 3, or 5 year extended warranty. If the unit fails within the warranty period, we will switch it out with a new unit. If it is past the warranty period and is being serviced by a 3rd party repair company, we will recommend replacement parts. These units do require proper ventilation and regular dusting to prevent dust from building up on the grill.
