They provided us just what we wanted to complete our kitchen work. Great solutions to countertops, island, ceiling, under cabinet lighting, new appliance installation. The crew was respectful and timely in their interactions and gave us honest recommendations feedback based on our needs. **★ — HU-857019910, April 2021** > My contract stated that they would prep the walls, cover all nail holes and do two coats of paint. They turned a 3 day job into a 2 day job and they finished up in under 8 hours each day. They actually bragged to me about how quickly they finished the job. They only did one coat of paint on everything. They used the wrong shade of white on my kitchen ceiling and on my bathroom ceiling. They painted an entire vaulted ceiling wall the wrong color even though I wrote the paint name in big bold letters in the correct shade of paint on the wall. They did not do ANY prep work. They didn’t cover a single nail hole, they didn’t prep a single surface, nothing. They didn’t cover any countertops. I had paint speckled all over my countertops. They didn’t paint behind the toilet. They skipped half of my baseboards, also they painted baseboards first and got paint speckled all over every single baseboard. They didn’t paint the inside of my kitchen cupboard door, they didn’t paint my closet door or my bathroom door. They did not take light cover plates off, they didn’t take electrical circuit covers off or the electrical circuit breaker cover off. They didn’t take door knobs off either, there was paint all over these things when they should had been removed for painting. Alex with third gen came over and took pics of all the areas I was pointing out. He said sometimes for whatever reason their painters just don’t do good work and they speed threw a job. Okay. He said the team would dedicate a full 8 hours to my place because he said it needed it. I decided to do all of the prep work because I kind of don’t trust this company, I also took the liberty to redo 5 walls completely. When Alex and his team got here I showed him the work I did and Alex had a fit. A complete fit. He told me if I wanted the nail holes all covered I should of done that prior to them painting... even though this is clearly stated in our contract. He refused to have his team paint the closet door or the bathroom door, the baseboards or the frame work to the doors. He looked at one wall from 6 feet away in a dim lit room and said, this wall looks fine why do you want us to repaint it? It only got one coats of paint... EVERYTHING only got one coat of paint. I could see the previous colors threw every single wall. They finished up in under 6 hours, they spilled a full gallon of paint in my front entrance condo hallway. They smeared white paint all over my kitchen countertop. They put a dirty black handprint on my extra white wall that I had painted. Every wall they repainted they dragged their rollers over the baseboards and let the color permanently dry to the baseboards. It’s been 4 months now and my carpeting still hasn’t been replaced and I have been redoing all of their work. From the start, they seemed to understand what we were asking for, which was a nice and functional basement (with bedroom, bathroom, bar, and theater area) but not necessarily top of the line. The offer they provided was competitive and in our price range, while other groups we spoke with provided estimates that were 20-30% higher. Matt and his team stayed true to their initial estimate and any time that we opted for something outside of the original contract, Matt was very clear about what the additional cost would be and provided an addendum. They finished the project on time and the quality of work is amazing. Some of the unique things we asked for included - 1) a patterned tile floor in bathroom, 2) wallpaper behind the bathroom vanity for a ‘feature’ wall, 3) brick backsplash behind our bar, and 4) long butcher block bar countertops. One of the things we appreciated most was Matt and Paul’s responsiveness - any time we had concerns/feedback, we were able to get ahold of them that day. They took calls after hours and on the weekend, which was important for us because we both work full time. They were also receptive to concerns or new ideas that came up during the project, and were focused on making us happy with the end result. I think the colors are off so I perhaps a paint job for one could help a lot. I don't like how the 2nd story addition of the house sticks out like a big house sitting on a little house. The stone facade doesn't go all the way around the house either. It is also flaking and the concrete is chipping. Also not opposed to tudors but the trim on our house doesn't look that great. Can I add something like Hardie Board and cover that up? Other ideas? Also could I do something about the stone or would it be best to replace it altogether? Lastly, we were wondering about the front door with the archway. Is it a huge job to try to cut an arched door or does anyone have design ideas to make this look better? Lots of questions!
