**Q: master bath redesign** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello,
I'm ready to remodel the master bathroom. I'd like to do a glass shower enclosure and a freestanding tub.  I have a series of photos below. First one is the current layout. Pictures following first one are mockups I've put together. Note that the left and right doors lead to walk-in closets.

A: I would pick design 3. Free standing tubs looks really nice in a bathroom and keeping at an angle will create a focal point in your bathroom. Just make sure you pick a size of a tub where it can have a decent amount of space all around it to make it easy for cleaning. Built in tubs are more practical though when it comes to ease of cleaning but I would still go for free standing because they look so nice! Just do a regular quick sweep around it on a regular basis to avoid build up. Also, I would suggest to remove the glass blocks from the windows and install regular windows if your budget allows.

**Q: What to do about hanging TV over mantel that's too high?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We currently place our 42" TV on the fireplace mantel but want to upgrade to a larger screen. However the mantel is very high and we're afraid the TV would look odd there. We have a tricky living room because the fireplace is flanked by built in shelves (we don't use the fireplace at all if that matters), and the room is long and narrow. We could possibly hang the TV on one of the walls adjacent to the fireplace, but the other adjacent wall is a floor-to-ceiling bay window. I don't like the idea of people on the street being able to see what we're watching, and also don't want the sunlight casting a direct glare on the screen. Any ideas? Maybe lowering the mantel somehow? Or building up the column of the fireplace and mounting the TV to the brick? Or even better, something I'm not thinking of that is less work and not so expensive?

I've included pics of the room furnished and unfurnished. As you can see, the TV we have is already quite big for the space and too high, but maybe there's a way to make it work? Thank you!

**Q: Paint colors for white kitchen cabinets** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I’m repainting my kitchen cabinets white, but I need suggestions for Benjamin Moore white paint colors.  My counter will either be Statuario Bella quartz or Honed Vermont Black Quartz which is really a charcoal gray.  Any suggestions are great appreciated! I’m actually leaning towards the Vermont Black Quartz on the counter and the Statuario Bella on an island with a gray base.  My hardware will be black.

**Q: Need help choosing carpet color** *(in Design Dilemma)*

This is my inspiration photo that I am using to redo my study/guest room.  I have found the wall color (New Penny, Valspar) and I have found a sleep/ sofa in a medium beige.  I am having a hard time choosing a carpet ( the room will be carpeted instead of a rug).  I would like a subtle texture like in the photo but  I don’t know how light or dark I should go (off white, beige?).  Should the carpet be lighter than the walls and sofa?  It’s hard to tell from the photo.  There is no information in the post regarding the carpet.  There seems to be a pinkish undertone in the paint color. All help will be appreciated.  Thank you!!

A: I like the top one and the last one. Just check the colors in person at the the store. Sometimes, colors on screen are not as accurate. Take your fabric and paint chip sample with you.

**Q: What tile to use around fireplace?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I knocked this tile out around the fireplace and have painted the walls repose grey.

I am curious on what tile I should use to replace the existing tile and mantel choices. Had looked at some photos and thought maybe shiplap the rest of the wall outside of the tile up to the ceiling and use a wood mantel. I'll include that photo, yet open to suggestions. Thank you!
